Investec Champions Cup 23/24 - Semi Finals

Having seen a few more replays of the Ntamack incident, it's no more than a yellow. However, when you put it into the context of the game, a yellow at a point where we had them on the ropes could very easily have changed the result. Outright bizarre it wasn’t properly checked.

Investec Champions Cup 23/24 - Semi Finals

Sleightholme is the big absentee for Saints. Picked up a concussion last week. Good test for Freeman at 13. It might end up being his best position so will be good to see him up against top opposition.

    Cockerill has it bang on...

Pretty much. The only thing I agree on is that the ‘jeopardy’ element has gone with no relegation. However, with such a competitive league, 8 of the clubs can still conceivably make the top 4 which creates a different dynamic.

Investec Champions Cup 23/24 - Semi Finals

Yeah. I think Toulouse or just on another level to Quins. It's not quite David vs. Goliath but we're very clearly underdogs. I'd also have Leinster as strong favourites, but perhaps not to the same degree. Ultimately, I think this is the end of the road for the English sides, but I wouldn't...

Investec Champions Cup 23/24 - Semi Finals

That’s probably the most likely scenario. However, I didn’t give us much of a chance against Bordeaux and ended up pleasantly surprised. Truthfully, I have 0 expectations of a win. I’m just hoping we can keep it respectable and avoid injuries for the Premiership run-in.

FTR, I have never owned wine chinos or a gilet.

Maybe? Although, my disappointment is more with his interpretation/application of laws. They're often odd and overly officious which I find strange for someone who played the game at a high level fairly recently. It could be on instruction, but it feels more of a personality trait.

    Premiership Rugby 23/24 - Round 16

I’m actually disappointed with the way Dickson has developed as a ref. Given his playing career, I thought he’d have a lot more of a feel for the game than he does. FWIW, I think he’s concerned about the perception that he has an Quins bias and if anything referees us pretty harshly.

    England 2023/24

Well yeah, kind of the same point really. As much as I like Willis, picking him with Earl would still need a more athletic 6 for balance and as a lineout option. I still think Dombrandt deserves his spot ATM, but when Willis inherits the 8 shirt for Saracens full time, that may change. Subject...

Speaking of Carnduff, he might be a medium term option at 6. This summer might be too early, but I wouldn’t be opposed to the idea.

Fair point, but at least Chessum offers the lineout prowess. For me, Willis is an 8. I don’t see him as a test 6.

    England 2023/24

Pretty much aligned on this with the following exceptions: Tom Willis as a 6? I really rate him but I'm not sure about him as a flanker. Less his work rate, more mobility. While I definitely think Willis is a better player than Roots, Roots might be a better 6. Maybe Ted Hill's timed his return...

    Transfers rumours

Yeah, I was thinking of Sean O’Brien (the centre who might have already left?) but that’s because I clean forgot about O’Loughlin.

    Transfers rumours

Irish signings haven't really worked for Exeter in recent times. Dunne and O'Brien might have looked like good signings on paper but haven't come close to hitting the heights of Steenson and Whitten.

    Premiership Rugby 23/24 - Round 16

What’s the story with ITV’s coverage? I’ve never quite figured out how the games they televise are chosen. It seems they get the low jeopardy fixtures. Quins need a win this round. With it being the BSKO, I hope we raise our game. We typically tend to win in our show piece fixtures. I don’t...

    England 2023/24

Well it would have been very generous to pick Murley for the 6N with 0 games under his belt. In the circumstances, the fact he wasn't selected is fair enough and doesn't immediately suggest 'his face doesn't fit'. In the one hand, IFW has created more competition for him, but I'd argue he's...

    England 2023/24

I disagree. Murley was in the last cut prior to the RWC. He then didn't play this season until after the 6N squad was announced so wasn't really in a position to be selected. He started for the A team and got a hat trick. If we were talking about Radwan or OHC I'd agree, but I'd argue that the...
