You might wanna check the laws of the game. They say nothing about controlled grounding. He was touching the ball and exerted downward pressure when the ball touched the in-goal. That's a try.
Spot on mate it was a try

You just need to get yourself a ref in the Jaco Peyper mould. And you're home and dry.
I will never say anything bad again about the 6N if Fra can produce again Top 14 form full of flair panache garlic and beaujolais nouveau.

...and whose provinces + national team are coached by foreigners. Funny.
I think I must have a real blind spot with Peyper. I think he is consistently the most reliable and authoritative southern hemisphere referee but he is really singled out for treatment here. I generally go easy on refs, but I didn't have an issue with anything I really saw if that rule about grounding is accurate.
A strange rule for me, as it would rule out 99% of groundings resulting from a footrace for a grubber surely? There is rarely any control in those circumstances.

Haha! In fairness you can't call a man that disallowed a critical French try in a French stadium spindless. What SH ref is better? Joubert? Gardner?

Joubert has hit depths Peyper may one day aspire to at the rate he's going
