A Political Thread pt. 2

23.36

BBC are reporting that doggos gone home. FML, let's have at least some drama like Srilanka, or India, some mystery and cajoling like central Europe, or some corruption like south America...

Interesting start...

Reform taking 2 early, looks like directly from Labours share, Tory hold 1 and Greens take their first, up 10 points from last year, labour losing 11 on last year...

Trends so far? Or just early anomalies?

But how did the dogs vote ?!

There is so much short term thinking in politics these days. People are easily sold on tax cuts and more money in their pockets now with little regard for long term planning on upgrading infrastructure and public services. China may be more autocratic but they are ******** all over everyone else with their ability to plan long term and without parties playing politics and cancelling each other's projects just to win votes. We have squandered so much taxpayer money on things like HS2 and other projects.

Edit. FFS just heard Richard Tice from Reform say "Drill Lincolnshire Drill" live on TV. What a tool.

I pretty ****** with Labour right now but I'm also not misguided enough to think we'd be better under the Tories rather than them.

What we need now is to push for even more progressive voices in our politics.
Oh sure, we wouldn't be any better off, but this isn't a Labour government in anything other than name

Who would you advocate for though? Lib dems have a severe lack of leadership

I agree with this. I would love to vote for them but they haven't had good leadership in years. Ed Davey just acts like a buffoon around election time with his publicity stunts. With the right backing and better calibre of people (including a leader who can communicate as well as Farage) the Lib Dems could be a proper force but they just seem to do well when people protest vote against the other two main parties.

The upside of dictatorships...

Upsetting to see how many disgusting racists we're surrounded by
That's right, if they vote against what I want them to, they are racists...

Leave that stupidity across the pond!

One thing is nice to see, all candidates on stage, heads held high, winners getting the applause they deserve, this level of civility shouldn't stand out, but sadly when your bombarded by the vicious BS of the US daily it's refreshing

Clarity is king for Lib Dem going forward. For too long they have puppy dogged, and have been weaponised against parties strategically by Labour...

At some point they need to stand as a true Labour alternative.

I thought they'd do better tonight than they have so far, voting bump has been limited, whereas the Tory mess and the continuation of the Labour slide happened, Lib Dem don't seem to have capitalised on it as much.

I havnt deep dived, but only Reform have inspired voters to the ballot, these elections are always lesser then general, but Runcorn is kind of a good example, 46% turnout is superb for the bye election, whereas Lib Dem have their successes on the other end of the scale.

You're right to use Garage as a bench mark, like or loathe his opinions, he is the standout on getting a clear concise message out there, when will progressive ideas have that same sort of character?

Sit this one out. Reform are a racist party regardless of how many decent people they hoodwink into thinking they'd change anything for the better.

In Runcorn the Labour door knockers are saying Pip and Winter fuel came up alot. Surprisingly not racism

I saw that interview too, infact I havnt seen immigration made much of an issue at all tonight, which is a bit surprising.

Ultimately with Labours decline since 2019, losing votes but winning the election due to Tory collapse, and now the continuation of that decline tonight, Reform might have a real shot at being a major player in 2028, if Farage doesn't use this as a spring board to Tory leadership.

Either way Farage is starting to look like Thanos... inevitable hahaha

Have you learned nothing from the Trump culture war?

Keep calling them racists, and make sure you have plenty of tissues ready 2028 for Farage as prime minister, because that's what you'll enable
