I'm on record as saying it's going to be a **** game and either side could win it,

I would be amazed if either set of fans is happy with their sides performance afterwards

A review of some the players performance

Genge, I have yet to see him have one great game for England. Carried well scrum was flakey
Sinks, game has gone backwards. If he had proper competition would be facing a spell out
Itoje, best game for a while.. defence was great, carried well too
Ewels...not sure what more can be said. Has no particular attributes that I can think of
Curry, hope his injury isn't too bad as breakdown was v good in the 1st half
Lawes, did well to last 80, and a big fan. Is he the best option we have at 6 ?
Dombrandt, good at breakdown but not using his strengths. He is not a crash ball merchant
Randell much quicker to the ruck and good pass away. Could he look to snipe more ?
Smith, thourght he had an average game ball in hand. However he only has lateral options
Daly, offered nothing
Nowell, kept getting gassed by cutherbert offered nothing
Marlins , great player but not an international winger
Steward, good game. Needs to add footwork/offload when running from deep

Those calling for Jones to go...I Don't think he cares about the 6n. His only care is the WC.

Teams have their tactics and usually after about 18 months most Teams can counter them.

He will bring his plan in to play shortly for the run up to the next wc so Teams don't have time to find them out. It's what happened in the last run up to rhe world Cup.

The biggest issue to that plan working was itoje knocking sinkler out in the final....

I just don’t buy that argument at all. Tactics can be tweaked over time, and some tricks kept up sleeves, but if the WC is the be all and end all (and I’d guess to most of us it isn’t) by this stage we should have a good idea of who the personnel will be, in team and wider squad, and the team should at least be coherent. Next year should just be polishing. The vast majority of a likely RWC team, especially in key positions like 8, 9, 10 and 15 should have at least 30+ caps by now - history shows experience counts.

Ref 19 RWC final, Sinckler didn’t help but would have made precious little difference. We played our final the week before and were beaten up. It’s difficult to get a team to hit those heights 2 weeks in a row, but Jones failed to do that despite an extra day’s rest and he also admitted to selection mistakes.

Our attack was poor today. A bit of punch in midfield and a couple of decent wings would definitely help. But I’m actually more concerned about our pack which never quite seems to be the sum of its parts and not really intimidating - today wasn’t the hugest of tests, we’ll have to see how it stacks up v Ire and Fra.

Not sure what to make of this England team.

Ewels was our best forward ffs. I don't know if its the coaching, lack of experience or lack of on field leadership or all of the above but that was dog ****. Seemed to shoot ourselves in the foot everytime we had momentum, the basics weren't there and the mental fragility seems to be growing.

I thought Mallins was fyairly solid but we need at least one out and out winger, our bench has zero impact Simmonds is a good 8 in a domestic team that played to his strengths when it was legal, better to have proper cover for the full back row I.e. a 6.5.

No one was expecting much from Wales, they Welsh domestic teams are shite but a lot of the England players look shadows of themselves when they pull the white shirt on....

Recently England have played to the level of the team they're playing so I can only hope they really step it up against the Irish and French... .

In all the discussions about replacing Tuilagi I haven’t seen Leicester’s Dan Kelly being mentioned, which surprises me. He was exceptionally effective with Ireland u20s a couple of years ago, and anytime I’ve watched Leicester this year he’s been one of their best players. He’s very physical in defence and attack, runs great lines and seems to have very good hands. I hadn’t realised he had already got an England cap but was surprised he wasn’t at least in the conversation about a Manu type centre.

I went to Welford Road today and Kelly had another good game. He should definitely be in the conversation.

I've ragged on him as much as/more than anyone else but I'll happily admit when a player proves me wrong and Ewels had (very very comfortably) his best game today - both in terms of Country and Club (that I've seen)

If he can maintain this level then EJs (repeated) gamble will have paid off nicely and we'll have a pretty decent stable of locks,
We'll see, though

Cuthbert is probably the best winger in the world. First name of the team sheet from now on. I want him wheeled out for the first game of the WC.

England just about deserved the win in the end there. ******* line out again. So many sloppy, easy pens in the first half and, as I say, you can’t lose 3 or 4 5 meter attacking line outs and not get anything and then on top of that have a 5 meter defensive line out and gift a try (push by Itoje or not, I personally don’t think there was too much in it, he knew what he was doing but it was one of those ones that sometimes you get and sometimes you don’t)

Every round has pretty much confirmed that Ireland and France are in one group and Scotland, Wales and England in that group below lots to work on for both but at least for Wales our future looks bright with Alex Cuthbert leading the charge into the next WC.
