Olympic Games Update

Whilst timing is odd I wonder how many are actually linked to the Olympic village v people not taking distancing seriously to watch events in public etc? Also how much is the spread of the Delta variant
A lot does seem to be down to the Olympics leading to crowds gathering - there's a curfew on bars etc, but that's to stop letting in not actually close so you get people all cramming into bars at 7:59pm because then they can stay there all night etc.

Apparently 70% of tested cases are delta variant

It's all to be expected, really - low vaccination rate (less than 30% vaccinated and they're running out of vaccines) + crowded cities would always lead to a spike eventually, the olympics athletes etc. won't be causing the huge uptick but holding the event won't help things at all

Same as any other country: bureaucracy and chasing cash is what's putting people at risk

o_O:eek: 46 seconds broken in the 400m hurdles. Nuts that this is faster than the women’s flat 400m WR by over 1.6secs which is widely considered doped enhanced.

Scenes in the Men's Pursuit, honestly don't care about the catch if you ride into an opponent it should be a DQ surely?

I know those aren't the rules but mad it isn't.

Denmark get nothing for it. It would of been terrible considering how good they've been to be removed from the final. However it does feel wrong they get not punishment for riding into an opponent who was doing nothing wrong.

Top 3 all finished under 47 secs, which is insane. Runner up also beat the previous WR and still only got silver.

Combo of Warholm being an amazing athlete but also the super spikes and a very fast track?
Not sure the super spikes have so much of an effect for the sprinters, but all of the above plus extremely high calibre opposition pushing him on.

Warholm may struggle to top that. But whatever WR mark this generation leaves behind may well last for decades.
