self explanitary with wingers and backs like they have why are worcester struggling to score trys?

Was wondering this myself the other day
Halfback pairing is good, if a little slow - wingers are very good
Centres perhaps?
Rasmussen is a hard player, but not really a distributor, but then Grove is a good player
It's a mystery

Their defence is good though, conceding the second-least amount of tries in the prem so far

Edit: Benjamin has just got a try, so that's that :p

haha yeahh.. rasmusen is ine breaker... everything shoudl click! doesnt make snes :L
yeahh one try... should be more tbh

Could just be taking them a while to adjust to the Aviva Prem

Claassens is looking a class act though

hrmm... maybe... if theyre backs settle in well i can see worcester being a very entertaining team this year :L

I've had this perception of Worcester of being a very solid, defensive minded team who dont score a lot of tries through flamboyant play. I'd wager that most of their tries come through the forwards.

but with garvey benjamin and classens? be abit wasted if they didnt have abit of flamboyant play?

It's mainly been our handling and our distribution that's been stopping us from scoring more tries. I've lost count of the amount of times already this season that we have been 5 metres out, passing the ball out of the breakdown, only for someone (there isn't really one culprit for it, they've all done it) to knock on, drop it, or forward pass.

But you can genuinely see that we are slowly but surely starting to open up our play. The handling IS getting better, confidence is growing, and we ran in 3 good tries against Irish (which nearly doubled our tally for the season, lol) with Garvey getting 2 and 1 for Miles. Claasens has been outstanding, but he fades massively in the second half of nearly every match. A lot has come from having Perry link up with Andy Goode, they've helped with our distribution problems and we are working out more chances now, so we'll have to see what happens whilst he's out for 6 months. Apparently we're after a SH that's been out at the World Cup, but I don't reckon it'll be anyone of consequence.

The one thing that is so much better from our last season up here is that 2 seasons ago we would spend 70+ minutes of every match on the back foot defending 'heroically', whereas now we're spending probably on average the same amount of time attacking as our opponents.

Rico Gear scored tries for fun when playing for the Crusaders yet when playing for Worcester he scored just one Premiership try in his last two seasons there

Even Chris Latham who is Australia second highest try scorer of all time didn't get many

so it would suggest to me that is the tactics that the club employ

I think Richard hill has been working a lot on worcesters defense. We r trying to concede less before we start scoring. However Classens has been Worcester most attacking player this season

My hope is that this short supply of try's is down to getting used to the quality in the premiership again. Expecting to see Milo and Garvey dot over a few times this season. If Claassens can get to grips with playing 80 minutes then we will be playing some great rugby very soon... maybe even start this Friday night ;-)

Scoring tries isn't as simple as having good wingers. It's just as important to have forwards who can keep possession, fast distribution through the rest of the backs etc. If you've got good players on the wings and they're not scoring tries, then something's going wrong elsewhere on the pitch.

See: England in the World cup.

Cant believe it we were doing so well agaisnt the wasps carlise playing probably the best hes ever played we were leading and then wasps score in the last minute the little bazzas. We really start needing to score tries now we should have won that game however we were the more attacking side.

Apparently the answer is: "Because Aviva teams have very good defence"

2 in the first 12 mins vs a (as far as I can tell) 1st XV Stade Francais!
