From what I understand coverage of the WRC will be on 4 - 5 channels?

I think which channel to go for comes down a lot to who's on the commentary team

TV One - TV ONE's Rugby World Cup team: Andrew Saville, Martin Devlin and Jeff Wilson

TV3 - 3 News sports anchor Hamish McKay will be joined in the commentary box by legendary All Blacks, Andrew Mehrtens and Richard Loe

Maori TV - Glen Osborne, Karl Te Nana, Te Arahi Maipi, Pat Lam, and Buck Shelford.
Others involved include Kees Meeuws, Norm Hewitt, Buck Shelford, Pat Lam, Glen Ella, Gavin Hastings, and commentary legend Keith Quinn
Coverage starting 7pm with games opening.

SKY - Nisbo, Smithy, and Foxy were told to smarten up earlier this season, being told they were not required for the World Cup unless they started using their real names. So they are back as Grant, Ian, and Grant, alongside veteran broadcaster Tony Johnson and motormouth and rule-book thrower Justin Marshall. The team also includes familiar faces Ian "Kamo Kid" Jones, regular commentators Scotty "Sumo" Stevenson, Murray "Foot in his mouth" Mexted, and the sole girl among the guys, Melodie Robinson, as well as guests such as South Africa's 2007 World Cup winning coach Jake White.

interestingly on paper I'd have to give it to Maori TV. Pretty solid all round team with no dorks.

TV3 also has a good combo with Andrew Mehrtens and Richard Loe. They know their stuff and can have a good crack as well. If these guys were setup with someone like Quinn it would be awesome but I'm not sure about McKay. Still worth a look. Note that coverage of many game's isn't live, overage of tonight's game starts 11pm so is delayed obviously.

Sky's seasoned team is a mix of good guys (Sumo, Smithy, Robinson, Kamo) and others who either just **** me off (Marshall) or can't get a fricken name correct (Nisbo & Mexted)

Sky coverage starts 6pm.

I dont like the look of the TV one team at all, I don't rate any of them. Though TV One are starting very early with Coverage from 4:55pm today which is much earlier than the others.

Who will you watch?

Every one of those teams have a weakness. TV1; Saville and Devlin are both hopeless. TV3; Mackay is awful. Maori TV; Quinn is a rubbish commentator now, seems to go on and on about useless facts about the players. The rest of the Maori TV lineup are good characters, not sure what they'r elike behind a mic though, Te Nana was ok doing a bit of ITM cup. Sky will be ok as long as Marshall and TJ are nowhere near the big games, and yeah if Nisbett gets some glasses to see the numbers properly. TJ is very biased, and Marshall is just annoying. Robinson is annoying too, not a fan of hers.

Will probably stick with sky, but might mix it up and see which commentators annoy me the least. I think my favourite 'play-by-play' commentator is Stevenson so ill stick with him

Marshall is enough for me to not watch sky, he seems to hate every team except the cantabs, I think he is trying way too hard to come across as impartial by pointing out every mistake and it just comes across like he doesn;t actually like the game!

I might give TV 1 a go as i actually rate Sav but will be happy to flick if its crap

Sky Ftw. It's got Stuart Barnes and Miles Harrison? on analysis, they take away fom the rest of Kiwi clowns. And they don't AB bums. Although I do love some FItzsimon trash talk - he's a crackup

I'll be watching on Sky, however Justin Marshall really does infuriate me. I think Tony Johnson and Grant Nisbett are quality (although as donmcdazzle well pointed out, Nisbett needs glasses for the player numbers). I like Sumo Stevenson and can stand Murray Mexted (although my opinion of him has gone down since he agreed to do a Comedy Central "roast"). TV3 does seem pretty appealing, so I may tune in there if Marshall is calling a game.
