Where have all the fans gone?

Don't know if that's an issue for the Scarlets as well but they've yet to fill the new ground for a Heineken Cup tie.[/b]
I was at the Scarlets v Leinster game last week. Parc Y Scarlets isn't too far from the town centre. I'd say you could walk it in 20-25 minutes. There's loads of parking space around it too.

haha like the dragons claws then - at least the dance kats were the right build. did they have a stupid chant aswell? our was '1,2,3,4 let me hear the dragons roar, 5,6,7,8, who do we appreciate'[/b]
Eeeeeek, no wonder no one is going to the games. I like my cheerleaders to be purely stereotypical thank you ............ oh ............. and silent. Very very silent.

Big part of the Blues' problem is changing the ticket prices, losing the terraces hasn't hlped either. The childs ticket is now u16 instead of u18 which has peed me off because now I have to pay £20 to £25 to get into a stadium with a shocking atmosphere. I mean over the 2 seasons before this one I could get a Arms Park Terrace ticket for £4, and the majority of my year in school would be there too. But now people just cba because it's too expensive, people have to get an extra train or bus to get to the Stadium and the social aspect of going to Games has gone too. To show you exactly how bad it is: I went to almost every home game over the last 2 seasons, this season I've been to one game (Blues v Australia).

I loved the arms park. I really did, I spent 10 years of my life watching rugby there and I appreciate the history that it comes with. However I think they did need to move, they are just making a crap job of it. The distance to the game isn't a big deal at all - its within walking distance, there are buses and loads of parking. The main two problems have been touched on.

1. Ticket prices. Cardiff Blues charge far to much for admission. There way of offers is buy giving free tickets to schools and football fans. They've also tried the buy one for #20 and get one free. They need to lower the prices - and sharpish.

2. Brand of rugby. Firstly, people in Cardiff support whoever is successful at the time. The attendances obtained from the QF and SF of the HC and the EDF semi and Final were massive. The support is there but they will only support a team thats winning. Cardiff City generate a better atmosphere at the ground becuase they chant and sing. Rugby isn't like that in Cardiff - it never has been. Sure theres 'Cardiff' chants but apart from that we've historically been the quiet crowd - the upper crust team, with the money, the chequebook charlies (how that has changed). We only get a good atmosphere when the team are doing well. Cardiff Blues really do struggle with the successful football team in the region.

As for the Scarlets I think its a similar problem. A lack of success and a team to be truly feared - crowds won't pay massive amount of money to go see the Magners league or see a drubbing in the HC.

Leinster should be getting crowds of 25,000+ a week. There's no football to compete with in Dublin and the GAA is a summer sport so where are all the fans? In saying that I should really try to get to mor than 3 or 4 games a year.[/b]
I thought you'd be an all-out fan and not armchair fan :D

I'm a leaving cert student with no money. Also I often have other things happening on my weekends like booze and women.

Student concessions get in half-price. My ticket to the Blues v Ospreys was £10, where it would have been £20 otherwise.

Meh i remember I was young. Now I have two kids and a wife. I'm happy to pay double to escape the madness at home for a few hours.

Tickets for Leicster Vs Ospreys was £35 for adults, £25 for Children. Which is pretty riddiculous, even for a fairly big game.

Yoooou liiiiieeeeee??!!!
Was that for the Welford Road match or at the Liberty in January? Cuz i wanna go to that!!

Leicester are ripping people off to pay for their new stand - But they know they'll still get a 90% full stadium every week because they're the biggest sporting time in the county.

The Welsh regions don't have that luxury.

Welford Road. I'd say it was a rip-off if it wasn't a good game. Or if we lost.
