When will the bubble burst?

Agreed but SR has an opportunity to get right again but some things has to happen;

- SA needs to get some of the 80 odd pro players playing in the NH back; we need some of our experienced players here to act as a core and for our rookies to come up through the ranks with the older players there to play off of.
- no break
- less derbies, IMO no return matches
- simpler tournament framework
- shorter (even if only slightly so) season

If that could happen we could have a good product again but it wil probably not happen with everything the SARU, ARU and NZRU are wanting to balance.

You get your 80 odd players back and you are going to need more than six teams.

Still think if more teams and a shorter season is what is wanted, then an NFL type setup is the only way it can work; something like three conferences of six teams

South African Conference
Sharks
Bulls
Cheetahs
Lions
Stormers
Kings

Australian Conference

Reds
Waratahs
Rebels
Force
Brumbies
Dragons (HK or Singapore)

New Zealand Conference
Blues
Chiefs
Hurricanes
Crusaders
Highlanders
Jaguars (Buenos Aires)

Format
Use breaks instead of byes

Weeks 1 to 5: Every team play every other team in their own conference

Week 6: Break for all teams

Weeks 7 to 10: Teams play two teams in each of the other two conferences; one at home, one away

Week 11: Break for all teams

Weeks 12 to 16: Return conference matches

Weeks 17 to 19: Post season (top six as per now)

I think everyone wants a global season, except for the powers in the Northern Hemisphere. Go figure ;)

Let me guess, the global season would involve the French clubs playing on rock hard pitches in July and August, right? If the SH nations are so into having a global season why don't they just align their own season with the NH? There, problem solved.

Now you see, it's that mentality which we don't need. Why should one hemisphere change everything, while the other one changes nothing? it should be mutually beneficial and there must be compromise on both sides.

as for rock hard pitches, South Africa's pitches are rock hard 24/7 365 days of the year (Except Newlands, it rains a lot down there).

1. Tip....ignore Basco!

2. Why should one hemisphere change....agreed!

3. It should be mutually beneficial......agreed and that is why it will never happen thank goodness!!
