Many of the players you have mentioned are with other franchises. Baker, Clarke, Keats, Smith, Ripia, Waldrom, Hoeata, Pisi and Schwalger are all signed for next season with other teams/clubs and the the rest are either in the Canes or not good enough to be.

But the reason they are with other franchises is that they were overlooked in their own backyard..Theres a difference with being in 'the squad' and starting also.I mean Corlett made his debut this weekend? This goes back years..Plenty of players outside of wellington have had to leave .Hika Elliot was good enough for the All Blacks but not good enough to play for the canes, Israel Dagg etc Now you have Hore and Nonu being dropped .The canes Board needs to go

Well in an attempt to bring all the f****** hotheads right back down to planet earth.

IT'S F****** RUGBY!!!, it doesn't matter what you turn up to training in, as long as you brought your god damn boots. Surely none of you are expecting Andrew Hore to train in [and I quote] "flip flops and a crocheted frap hat" who gives a flying f*** what he turns up in as long as he has his boots, training shirt and shorts.

The Canes have had structure, the same structure that lead them to numerous semi finals and the well known foggy final against the Crusaders. So to say they have had no structure is completely opinionated. Who cares if they haven't had the same structure as the Crusaders, that's what makes them so damn different. If Hammett accomplishes his goal in destroying the Hurricanes culture then say goodbye to all the great entertaining backs we have seen over the years.

We as Hurricane fans love the way the Canes play, it's exciting and full of flair, the same style that has produced All Black greats over all these years because of the style of game they play. We don't want the boring structured style that win games by percentages. We want the entertaining, make-something-from-nothing, Christian-Cullen style gameplay.

As for the Canes being the great underachievers of the Super Rugby competition. Tell me how many teams have actually won the competition then we can settle your poor statement by listing all the other teams who have done worse than the Canes.

Makes me wonder if you actually understand what "underachiever" actually means.

And as for Andrew Hore, I'll bet you he NEVER turns up to All Blacks training wearing jandals and a silly hat, because Ted would fry his arse if he did.

There is such a thing as "standards", and as Captain, he should be setting them, not acting like a slob. You take that attitude into training, and you will inevitably take it onto the park as well.

Would you see Richie McCaw sign the back of a poster that was derogatory towards Todd Blackadder...?

BTW, I consider Nonu a risky selection as he can be a bit of a liability. Remember what he did in the first match, the late head-high shoulder charge on Cowan? Heaven help us if he gets a rush of blood or has a brain fart and does that in a RWC knockout match. As a coach, I might be prepared to risk a player like him because of what he brings to the game in other areas, but if on top of that he is also disruptive at training, won't do what I tell him, and constantly questions my decisions in front of my players, I'm going to give him the archer.

It doesn't take naustradamus to figure out that may happen, losing addition players was a risk he should have accounted for before he started getting trigger happy.

I wouldn't call him trigger happy.

Hore & Nonu had the pre-season and 16 weeks of super Rugby to come into line. If after 16 weeks, your Captain still won't implement your game plan, and another of your senior players insist on going up against you at every turn, then you aren't exactly being trigger happ if you fire them in Week 17.

These two have had their chances, and they haven't taken them.

From a coach perspective I understand his decision, altho it's the last option you normally take.
That charge on Cowan was most likely done out of frustration.

I don't see any issues for the AB's tbh. The combo Nonu-Smith was settled in stone for many years but now you have SBW on the scene.
Meaning that if somebody messes up he will loss his starting spot.

Curious to see where he will end up.

I think the writing was on the wall for the canes this season. Was interesting that when Waldrum moved to the chiefs this year it didn't make a lot of sense at the time but it turned that he and hammett didn't mix very well when Waldrum was at the Crusaders and what ever happened then was bad enough to force Waldrum to jump ship from the Canes after news Hammett was going to replace cooper.

In fairness, Hore has never been anywhere without looking like a slob. If his outfit was so much of an issue, he shouldn't have been made captain in the first place. Being fired over that is also very weak, especially when you look at some pro players that face multiple assult, burglary and sexual deviancy charges and still get paid a truckload by their clubs, and Hore's crime is flip-flops. If Hore wasn't meeting the standards, surely taking away his captaincy or dropping him from the starting team would have been a better and just as effective resort..

In terms of him signing the poster and McCaw not doing it, for a start McCaw would never be told by anyone that he wasn't wanted anymore, or taken off every match 10-20 before full time (even in his last ever game). Also it looked as if Hore signed the back of the poster and it didn't seem if he saw what it said, as he was signing everyones poster.

Nick, I'm not saying he was fired for looking like slob. All I'm saying is that it MAY have been a contributing factor. There will have been other contributing factors, all of which may have added up the the coach deciding he was better off without him. These may all come to light one day (ina book no doubt) or they may never be revealed

If the captain of a team I coach turns up dressed like that, he has got off on the wrong foot with me for starters. I will tell him what I think, to never turn up like that again, and he'd better not argue. If he then goes on over the next few weeks to undermine my authority, argue with me in front of the other players, not put my game plan into effect, and disobey my instructions, he is really going to leave me no choice but to fire him.

The last thing we need is this "player power" rubbish that goes on across The Ditch. Look what it did to the Brumbies... they fired David Nucifora (a winner) and replaced him with Laurie Fisher (a loser) who turned them from a team of Champs into a team of Chumps.

Interestingly enough, I saw Hore and Eaton in the pub again tonight..

Good thing the season is over, because Hore barely managed his way into a taxi.

Yeah, I get what you mean. Being disrespectful to a coach is obviously not condusive to a winning team atmosphere. My only point is that I have heard no evidence to suggest that either Nonu or Hore were disruptive other than from Hammett and a few news sites which thrive on speculation. Seems like it has been instantly accepted that they are to blame. And even if they are as bad as reports, firing them without talented enough reserves is shooting yourself in the foot, to make a point. Even Mark Hammett has said he wished he did things differently.

Nicks point of why didnt he just strip him of captaincy still stands.. Im sure he would have got the warning message loud and clear that way. It just makes more sense too. Hes not pulling the line, so he keeps starting and captaining but just doesnt come back next season? I cant see the logic there.

As for the Nucifora example, it isnt really the same.. Nucifora is a proven winner the players decided to dislike. Hammett doesnt have enough experience to be a proven anything. I can see it from the players perspective when they have a formula that has them consistantly in the top part of the table, and then some guy who may not even know what hes doing comes in and tries to change everything.. Is he really any different to Jed Rowlands?

One thing that really bothers me is that he says Ma'a is a yellow card liability, but he wants to focus on Dane Coles? Has no one actually seen this guy play hes going to give away just as many..
