What book are you currently reading?

Have you read Porno by Irvine Welsh, the sequel to Trainspotting...good book, if you are a fan of Trainspotting it is good to know what happens to the guys 10 years later

Didn't know there was a sequel, doubt they'll have it in my library (I had to read trainspotting in dutch, which was, honestly, pretty gross to read) but I can always ask for it to be sent over.

Thanks for letting me know there's actually a 'ten years later' book!

Ya its really good.

K, everybody can laugh at me, I don't care.

Finished reading the last Harry Potter book, cried like the little baby I am, and I couldn't put it down, not because it was so amazingly good (it's certainly not her best) but just because I wanted to KNOW.
So that means I sacrificed most of my sleep the past night to finish the book, started on page 127 at about 8pm (I had read the first 6 chapters via another source prior to buying the book), went to sleep at about 4am
And I need to get up at six in the morning!

And now I feel empty, no new book to look forward to, never to know more about all those characters I've grown so fond off over 7 books.

This is the part that sucks more I guess.

Not telling anything about the content, for the unlikely case that someone here might want to read it. A friend of mine spoiled it for herself by asking someone who died and in what order and such, which in my opinion was one of the stupidest things she could have done.

PM me telling me who dies.
Acutally, i wouldn't have the slightes clue if you said anyone other than Harry or cute english girl.
So just tell me if either of those died.
Because i don't know anyone who's read it and i'm just curious to know what kind of a mind Rowling has got.
Thank you.

Also intrigued to see what she proposes to do next.
She's got a kids book and an adults book lined up.
One will become her forerunning book and get the big publishing.

Hermione :p
Don't know about Futurama, but Hermes is a God of the Greec mythologie.

I thought you meant Ginny Weasly.

In that case I named the wrong girl cute english girl in my last PM to you.

Haha!
Yeah, but don't worry, i got the main idea what happened, who lived and who pulled whom...

cheers.

No shame in admitting that you're capable of showing some emotion! I cried at several points while reading Harry Potter myself!

Currently reading it again - maybe not the best written books in existence, but Rowling's world is so coherent and alive that it makes them so great to lose yourself in.

Before I read DH I finished Will Self's "Book of Dave" which is absolutely incredible. I reccommend it to everyone with even the slightest interest in politics and religion, or simply societey.

Wouldn't be suitable for me then ^o)

I felt like reading that Hitchhikers' guide to the galaxy series, but my exams are coming up, so no time to read :(
I'm guessing I'll have to read a lot either way next year (if I manage to pass), I should look into it some time.

Please, Mr. Einstein by Jean-Claude Carriere.

Will hopefully get around to reading it when i go to bed tonight.

i am enjoying reading broken harts

the biography of the late great owen hart

very interesting

Was the Dutch version written phonetically and littered with slang? I can't imagine how that book could be translated into another language. It was so difficult to read at first but by the end you don't even notice the writing style.

peter kay- sound of laughter :D was a bday present and i love his stand up :D
but before that i finished reading inside little britain and jonny wilkinson my world

harry potter 7 - reading it about 3 pages a day. great stuff - gotta love the references to all the other 6 books. what the heck will i read now the series is done.

That was the main problem of it, they translated it using dutch dialect at times. Which sounds ridiculous to someone like me who lives in Flanders, Belgium, since our accent and dialects are nothing like the ones in the Netherlands.
Would be funny if someone would actually write a book in phonetic script. And then try and find a publisher for it.

I've been asking myself the same question yyyc186. I can't believe you only read 3 pages a day though.

Just started reading The Shrinking Man by Richard Matheson

I read - and adored - 'I Am Legend' and so i had to get on and read this one.
It's really interesting so far. Not brilliantly thought of, but already being told so intriguingly.

I'm currently reading Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. Beats the film (which apparently turned out quite differently to the book).

I read Timeline by Crichton a while back and thought it was the best book I'd ever read so I read a few more of his works (though none are as good).

I read jurassic park too, I believe I even own it, sadly in a translated version. It's not bad, but it's a better story then the film was, if I remember the film correctly.

Saw timeline, haven't read it yet. Will be reading breaindead Chiclit starting September fifth, until then I'll be reading my German Grammar book (a stunning read, it leaves me flabbergasted every time I open it), My Philosophy textbook, thankfully not written in the same style as it was taught, and my anhtropology book, which is one of the most intresting study books I held this year, i actually tend to read randomly in it whenever I feel my brain needs some action.
