What book are you currently reading?

I just read the book I Am Legend that the movies 'The Omega Man' and 'I Am Legend' are based on. If you like that kind of thing then it's absolutely brilliant, it's better than the films, but is a bit more vampire orientated.....still a great read

if you're into true crime stories, or anything of that sort, i would recommend "The Ice Man: Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer." its a story about a hit man for the mafia who told his story to the author while being iterviewed in prison. he died not too long ago. he was completely ruthless and it talks about how he grew up to be that way and several stories of him murdering and who he murdered and his partners, kinda weird. it just amazes me how some people think, its hard to analyze them.

Just got done with Steve Alten's The Loch and Primal Waters...both excellent.

I think I'm going to move on to Point of Impact, the book that the movie Shooter is based off of.

Currently reading Vineland by Thomas Pynchon, read Gravity's Rainbow before that which was awesome.

The book series I most recommend has to be Perdido Street Station, The Scar and Iron Council by China Mieville. Flat out amazing.

Picked up the three 'Bourne' books the other day for a fiver, so i just started The Bourne Identity

I have finally finished the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy trilogy, read part four and five over the last two days.

Now all I have left to read by Adams is books I won't get hold of unless I get a credit card and find a dubious book selling site online (I'm not sure if Amazon will have 'the meaning of liff')

I swear I will start reading Dune as soon as my GCSE's are other. Honest! Not a good idea to start a 500+ page book with tiny text during examination periods.

Might sound stupid to most people here, I discovered Harry Potter during an exam period, there were four books of it at that time (at least I think so) so I had plenty to read.
Then again, during exam periods is when I usually decide to start knitting again, play pokemon on the game boy to see if I can finish it or think of ways to store more books in one room. I think we all need some odd distractions during studying.

I think that's the main problem with revising, you always want to find ways to distract yourself from it. :(

I heard of a guy who decided his room needed a fresh colour so he just started painting it, in the middle of his exams :p

It's when I'm at my most creative, and want to things i normally don't, like cleaning up my room and alphabetising random things.

I used to have a copy, and there was an expanded version in 1990. Not sure it would make a lot of sense if you're not a native english speaker, but the humour is euro-absurd all right.

there's a 'the meaning of liff' and a 'the deeper meaning of liff'.

I read about it in the Salomn of Doubt, and although it's hard to tell from only one or two neologisms, or their definitions,it seemed funny enough to actually purchase the books.; It's too bad I don't know of a well organised decent second hand online bookstore.

The first 4 hitchhikers books by Douglas Adams are great. The fifth was a bit of a letdown.

If you're up for a laugh, I highly recommend "The Bowler's Holding, The Batsman's Willey." It's a collection of humourous sporting quotes, misquotes, and delightful puns, collaborated by Geoff Tibballs. I got it for my birthday and I didn't put it down for about 2 hours. Obviously not something you'll read cover-to-cover, but great if you need a laugh.

No need to apologise. If I was asked to speak Spanish, I wouldn't know where to start. :D
