Wales vs South Africa

Permission to say OH COCK !

I'm flying down to the cape tommorow at 16:30.
It's to visit family for a week, but my mum won't hear the end of this I tell you.

/shakes fist in fury !

I just hope we don't fly nationwide.

I have to ask you though, what is with the selection process involving your props. You guys seem to produce so many young talented props, give them about 5 tests and then they disappear. Eddie Andrews and Sephaka are both examples of this. Perhaps this is indication of Australian front row jealousy, give our lack of quality in the area :p ? [/b]

Andrews & Sephaka  lol If it was up to me, i'll happily sent them over to Australia

I have a feeling tomorrows game will be really close. Pretorious in my opinion is the real weak link, i feel hes on the decline and he was poor against Tonga in the world cup. Also a couple of new faces, the only good think from South Africa's point of view is that Wales have a weak pack which should make it an easier game for Kankowski etc..

for the record-Boks to edge it 22-20 :D

Don't push your luck... :)

Agree with the guy above think Pretorius is a weak link. Can't wait to see Kankowski in action! :)

Anyone who seriously thought Wales had a chance, eat your words :p This isn't England your facing...

I'm at my office. <_<
If somebody can post the film of the match time to time, it will be cool.

or a link for an eventual direct broadcast

Good match.

SA had five attacks, scored five tries: pure class. #8 looks good, front row killed Wales in the first half, but backrow might have been penalised more at the breakdown.

Wales choked at the lineout, died in the scrum, and just didn't give their backs a chance despite all the territory and possession. Henson is back, baby! Why did Hook keep refusing to spread the ball out right? I think he kept running back inside in the second half, and the only time he let it out was the kick through for Stoddart's try - must be some reason for that.

Ref was a bit busy with the whistle to begin with, but settled down.

Well done, SA - true world champions.

im going to say south africa 22 wales 50

 :lol2tn:

You feel South Africa could have done more had they needed to, excellent clinical performance. Wales showed heart but were ultimately slightly fortunate two even get two tries, the difference in class between the sides were evident but to be honest few of the other Northern hemipshere sides would have done any better.

Excellent performance by Schalk as ever

I predict a shocking result.

I already had predicted a French victory for the last world cup!

I wonder if i can have a bright destiny on prediction! :( :p

henson is defo back!! we just need him to get his boot back now :/

well done sa, showed why the world champs... theres some positives for the welsh though.. we need to adress how we defend from first phase ball though, because far to often were put straight onto the back foot from it.

This wasnt really "shocking" though. Wales are normally tough to beat at home and considering South Africa havent done much training in the last month there could have been a surprise result. But a 20 pt win was always on the card.

I dunno if you were watching the same game as I was, but first half Wales scrum was poor, second half they dominated, it was the best Welsh lineout preformance for some years, so I think you need to change the chocked mate!!!!

Wales put up a strong performance which I was dead pleased with! Although breaking the gain line was Wales worst problem.

Mind you the linseman Changlang was poor he missed two forward passes (one lead to SA try). Missed out on AWJ getting taken off the ball twice one by CJ Van Der Linder. This sparked 3 off the ball instances afterward and I think this bloke should be stripped of his job. Hes poor at Magners league level.

Mind you SA 5 attacks, 5 tries showd why they are World Champions!!

Well done SA

PS. watching Habana playing 7 was a joy to watch!

i love gavin henson

hes gunna be the best 12 in the world this time next year.

LoL, yeh, perhaps he'll style his hair like a crown to show his awesomeness to the World.
This match was £60+ per ticket, and I was quite dissappointed with the performance. James Hook was dreadful and if Stephen Jones was on the bench he would have replaced him long before half-time. Stoddart had a brilliant game, especially on his debut; against the World Champions! He did well to score a try from a poor Hook kick.
Peels distribution was excellent, although he wasn't as lively as he's been for Llanelli recently, and Henson's passing was spot-on and he made a brilliant claim for the twelve shirt to Warren Gatland. Lets hope our new coach can sort us out before the next World Cup.

Well, Wales lineout gives hope for the future, but it did choke: Brian Moore kept making the point in commentary - whenever they got in to an attacking position they lost the ball. Otherwise, they were comfortable, which is good considering SA had the best lineout at the RWC.

Wales did better (not dominated) at scrum in second half, but they were up against a seven man pack for twenty minutes. Plus they turned down a kick at goal under the posts and lost the scrum; and I think the strike against the head was also in the second half.

I guess SA had the ability to apply the pressure exactly when needed to disrupt the Wales forwards.

I haven't seen Wales with so much territory and possession - ever? - and quicker ball at the breakdown and more passing out of the tackle will see them do a lot of damage. Still need to think more about their defence.

p.s. Changalanger is craaap.

Keep hearing people raving about Henson, but to be perfectly honest I saw nothing about his peformace I would rate above 'Decent'.

Yes, the guy showed some nice touches. There were a couple of passes which showed he has soft hands. However, unlike all the top 12s of the game, he doesn't threaten the gain line enough. Take a look at the likes of Giteau, D'Arcy or Jauzion, and you can see they offer a huge threat with ball in hand. This doesn't mean they look to run it on their own every time, but the ability to make breaks draws men to them, creating space for others. In all honestly, Steyn looked very comfortable man to man on defence against Henson.

Admittedly it doesn't help when he has a plank like Parker outside him, but the guy just doesn't attack defences enough to be convincing for me.

Also suprises me that people readily criticise Hook. I think he did admirably with the quality of ball he was given - the chip for Stoddard's try (who I thought showed great promise) was wonderfully weighted).

At the moment I think as a pairing, Burger and Smith eclipse even McCaw and Collins as the best flank-forward combination in international rugby. The amount of work they get through is astounding. In tandem with the young number 8, who also looked a useful prospect, they negated much of the Welsh attacking threat.
