USA vs Tonga

First penalty and try for Tonga. Good try out wide for Viliame Iongi. missed pass puts him into space, throws the dummy and scores on the far side. Try converted. Good start for tonga up 10 - 0

Penalty gives USA lineout 22 metres out. USA plow through the forwards, Tonga Laeeatoa concedes the penalty 5 meters out. Malifa converts the penalty score 10 - 3 Tonga

USA concedes penalty 25 meters out far side. MISSED by Morath.

Penalty again for Tonga . Clever concede not rolling away. 30 meters right in front Morath CONVERTS. 21:55 TONGA 13 USA 3

Penalty for USA Maafu not releasing. USA kicks for the corner. Lineout 10 meters out. Lineout lost by USA, Stolen by Maafu. Morath clears not a good kick. Lineout won by USA they drive but again lose the ball 5 meters out. Helu runs the ball out chip n chases, regathers but is isolated. Penalty for USA, Ref not happy with Usasz, not happy too much lip towards the ref.

Penalty for Tonga, running hard at the USA, players offside. Morath 30 meters out slight angle misses to the far side.

Wow! ... I was just about to say, USA are going to struggle to get into the game if they continue to give away penalties ... and then yellow card against Tonga
 
(feed cut out for 5 mins) Tongan player yellow carded (?). turn over ball long run from Stanfill. tongan drag him down. Tongans try to retreat and reorganise on the 22. USA spread the ball wide TRY scored by Emerick. TRY CONVERTED by malifa TONGA 13 USA 10
 
Ooof, USA player dropped the ball over the line - Didn't look too pleased with himself (think it was LaValla?)
 
USA finish stronger and the fitness started to show.
 
Penalty for USA, kick to the corner 15 meters out. USA take and try to maul. Drive but turned over. They spread, kick from Malupo not a great one. Lineout 22 meters out taken by Clever, USA spread then drive, good defence from Tonga. Run from A Suniula nice behind the back offload for Hawley, They drive through Lavala 5 meters out but is lost forward trying to extend reaching for the tryline and the tongans hold out.Ball comes out of the scrum, ball unplayable. HALFTIME Tonga 13 USA 10

Tonga dominating scrums, backline players running good angles. USA making some simple errors causing turnovers. Tonga leaking penaltys and player sent to the bin and the USA claw back towards the end of the half.

Gotta love world rugby these days, when you can have guys watching in Australia, Canada, and England, all watching the same game and commenting on it as it plays out :D

Interesting to see whether USA can start with the same momentum in the second half, or if Tonga will reestablish dominance when they get their player back from the bin
 
Player that was sin binned was Tonga Leaaetoa for a high tackle. Hes conceded 3 silly penaltys that I counted in the first half which is a worry for Tonga. Theyll need to keep theyre discipline if they are to win this game.

Restart Tonga concede penalty at the breakdown 30 meters out on the angle. Malifa MISSES to the near side.

Okay, my bad ... I was trying to multi-task, and didn't pay as much attention as I should - you're are right, discipline will probably determine the winner as the scores are close ... ummn, second try for the Tongan no.11 as I type :D

Edit:- Wow, zero tolerance for high tackles, the USA tight head gets 10 minutes in the bin for a high tackle

Good try by Tongan there, USA midfield defence is shocking.
 
scrum at halfway line feed for Tonga beautiful short ball from Morath and Siua cuts the line. Links up with Iongi and he scores the TRY. Morath CONVERTS TONGA 20 USA 10 at 46 mins
 
Pittman yellow carded for high tackle, bar from the break he has been poor.

Box kick by Usasz, Malupo gathers inside 22 but is penalised not releasing through the replacement prop Fry. USA kick for touch and win the lineout, but is penalised for truck and trailor.

Tonga dominates scrum inside own 22 wins penalty. Tongan scrum been dominant all day.
