On Wednesday European champions Toulouse announced the signatures of All Blacks utility back Luke McAlister, Wallabies scrum-half Luke Burgess and Springbok prop Gurthrö Steenkamp.

Oh god. They never let up, do they?

I don't really know the meaning of this post but this is actually the first time that Toulouse sign any big name. They've never signed any "Star" before...

Just in their general brilliance really. Also, Byron Kelleher definitely counts as a star.

I'll give you Byron, true. OTOH, the list of players that have turned up for France after they joined is impressive...

I doubt Mike Phillips will be singing for them now as they have Burgess.

No surprise to see MacAlister sign, he was never going to stick around NZ after the RWC.

In NZ, McAlistair will now always be remembered as guy that COULD have been really good.

I reckon that first overseas stint (Sale) has stuffed this guy. Went away before he was fully developed as a Rugby player, and never got back to the position he was, and the way he was heading, in '07.

Recently he has been playing better rugby with The Blues (Maybe he was in contract negotiations?) - certainly better than the last couple of years, but still not at the pre-'07 heights.

Its a shame, because now he will always be remembered for how he played since returning to NZ- which is a player that was "average to good" - nothing more.

If they have got McAlister, I think he will do really well. He'll probably have another RWC under his belt, and Toulouse is the kind of club that generally brings out the best in their players.
