That video is amazing. Loving this competition, just wish I could watch it.

I've been following your posts on the top 14 forum and I gotta agree with you. France has 30 teams in total and a lot of them get huge crowds, I never knew how popular the game is South of France. Just makes me wish someone down here made league a forbidden sport like they did in France. Union would be the no.1 sport and would have a better following. Instead both codes are still fighting each other 100 years on.

League was forbidden in France between 1940 and 1944. It was very popular then until 1970. In the 50's it was on par with Union, the team which toured in Australia in 1951 were then considered national heroes. This popularity started to fade away in the late 60's (even if France reached the RLWC final in '68). League then became tiny in the 80's.

League was very badly managed and missed the take off of sport on TV.

Forbidding League may have saved Union in France, clubs were then switching en masse from Union to League, but it didn't condemn League. The leaguies were just not smart enough to develop durably their sport.

I live in Brazil and, believe me, the rugby coverage is crap. I watch a lot of gamres on the internet because the coverage is so poor. I watch a lot of games live on the internet but I do get some rugby coverage on Sky here, but it is incredibly limited unlike in Argentina, Paraguay, Chile and Uruguay. ESPN show only European rugby and its very 'pick and choose'. They show the 6 Nations but not all the games and the Heineken Cup but at most 3 games per weekend. They show 'Total Rugby' every week but nothing else. Its utterly poor considering the status of rugby in world sport. A real shame given neighbours and sporting rivalds, Argentina did so well in France 2007. For the RWC most games were shown and mostly live.

There is a French channel called 'TV5 Monde' which shows all France's home tests and shows 'Jour de Rugby' every week. This is a one hour review of all the matches. The channel shows all the games at Stade de France live, meaning all of Stade Francais's big matches (5 this season) and shows the playoffs live too. Coverage can only boom now that other teams are using big stadiums outside of their 'zone' like Toulon filling Marseilles, Bourgoin playing in Grenoble or Bayonne playing in Spain. I only wish I was able to watch a channel called 'Canal +' because they would show much, much more.

So, Wally, see if you can get Canal + or TV5 Monde in Australia. I am sure you can. If so you can watch the Top 14 at home on tv.

Canal+ is not available outside of France. TV5 Monde is available worldwide, however the programs can differ depending on the world area.

I've always wanted to watch French Rugby, so imagine my disappointment when, after finally getting the Rugby Channel, no matches have been shown so far. Instead I get crap I could watch on the normal sports channels.

I'd try and catch some matches on the internet, but as the time difference isn't exactly satisfactory, albeit better than some places, I still can't find the motivation to get up and try and find a stream. Still, I hope to catch the odd game during sleepless nights/a bad night's sleep.

The handling skills and ability to know when to draw and pass in that video was very impressive. Thank you for sharing.

If you can find streams this weekend Clermont - Toulouse and Biarritz - Paris should be interesting.

It would have been easier if the games weren't being played on Sunday, which is my Monday morning. I might be able to catch a bit of one game hopefully.

Thanks for the head's up.

Usually they play on Saturdays but this week is special since they played mi-week too on Wednesday so gaining an additional day of rest was welcome. This week was chosen too because there's no domestic football played this week-end with one of the last round of the selection phase for the FIFA world cup played on Saturday. This left plenty of available space on TV on Sunday.

Just found a channel on justin.tv that seems to have replays of Top 14 matches, so I favourited it. Once my internet is back to full speed I'll try and watch some of the matches. Will post the link tomorrow if anyone is interested. Not sure how things are working right now, seeing as my internet is going super slow, but it looks promising.
