Top 14 Day 3

He is good but there is so much competition on the wing this season that he will probably not see too much game time, the only problem on Fri was he got isolated twice from restarts , dont worry i will mention that to Galthie on Tues!!! He is a good solid player could do with a bit more weight or strength, we still have have Artru and Viri Viri (fast) to start this season these two are probably the two fastest wingers in the Top 14.

Just thought i would mention it but PREDICKTIONIST GASTONIUS IS AGAIN 100% CORRECT THIS WEEKEND, CALLING MONTPELLIER AWAY TO CLERMONT AND LA ROCHELLE AGAINST THE MIGHTY TOULOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DONT WAIT TOO LONG FOR THE CONGRAT CARDS AND MESSAGES BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey now gastrubalde !!! I call pretence on your claims ! You used your joker on the Montypellii Clermontinio match, and yet are claiming you precisely "called MP winning away in Marcel Mich". Those are two different things. Just for this, I strongly propose we strip you of your weekly invincibility medal, and have you wear this avatar for a full day:

awww-3-sad-face.jpg

It's only natural...the Top 14 threads are a place of uncomfortable laughter and constant ambiguity; but believe it or not there are also less glorious sides to it: the great mortification ordeals, descended directly from the realms of Greek mythology.

In your understandable excitement over MP's brilliant away victory within the guts of the volcano, and just like Icarus you'd reached such heights you thought yourself invincible for a while - but a while too long !! A WHILE TOO LONG GASTONISTISCHE !!! Your wings have burnt, and you've now fallen into a downward spiral you have only yourself to blame for. The heights of success are an inebriating demon that corrupts the mind of even the most fair gastons of this world...

But you are wrong my friend i did not use my joker only placed it in ready, to use just in case, and of course i did not need it!!!!!!! so i have re-changed and re-arranged the rules as Predicktionist Gastonius i am allowed to!!!!!!!! and the Joker becomes available next week as a spare!!!! a little like 10 pin bowling!!!! so next week i have 2 jokers to play with and a kitten!!!! but will not need them as we are playing Castres so no problems easy peasy lemon squeezy!!!
dont mind the cat it looks very similar to ours about 2 years ago when we got her as a kitten.......

the exact words from the Predicktionist Gastonius....... My joker will be Montpellier "cannot say we are going to lose' thats just not possible, but as we have never won in Clermont it is more in desperation, and pure belief in Father Christmas and fairy stories but hope is a strong element....... so you see my friend and i still believe in FC AND FAIRY STORIES
so i believe my Joker is still available and my rules so thats that end of story.........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

was it THAT depressed and miserable to be gaston's property ?!
And easy peasy lemon sleazy ! You don't know what Castres will manage over there !!
Okay, the judges and I will let it roll for this time...but know this: you must be clear and distinct with your Joker predicktions, and announce deliberately your prognostic for the given Joker match of the weekend. You must articulate your exact notion that you think this or that team will win.
I'm guessing you'll be using your joker for Montypellier again next week given the...circumstances.

hang about i make the rules around here!!!!! this some kind of Doha / Var revolution be careful the Var is not that far away you standing on dangerous ground................ remember about things that go bump in the night, and the Var is not far from Corsica, you never heard of my best buddy Sandra Paoli!!!!!!

ok ok ok sorry ! I just like to play tough every once in a while, I apologize, it's just an act, it's so spontaneous I can't help it...
But I must say otherwise I feel disgustingly insulted: you may threaten my earthly body and I don't mind gaston, but to threaten my loyalty, my undying adoration of Montypellieronni, my breath, my life...what do you take me for, I ask you, some casual Top 14 fan who just picks teams like he picks porn videos online, for a good **** ??!! You insinuate I've never heard of "les Cistes" ?...I feel betrayed.
I'll carry on anyways with a heavy heart and a knotted throat and also with my fingers to tell you that the rules of the predicktion joker is set by default. It isn't a personal choice some person has established, it's just incumbent upon you to, if you want to take credit for a validated predicktion, make that prognostic beforehand. You can't be vague about your intentions, so it is hereby declared that the joker only works if one has actually spelled out who he thinks will win a specific match. It is the gods of Top 14 thread logic, we are powerless against this universal reign !

Okay, I just watched Grenoble Bordeaux, and man oh man those Grenoblois can play. Wisniewski was having a near-perfect game, one heck of a FH, would seriously keep an eye on this guy...Guitoune and Talebula completely stripped of balls on the wings. Grenoble has serious ability.

Interesting prospects:
* for Grenoble:
- kiwi no.8 Rory Grice: 1m90, 108kg, 24yo. Excellent with ball in hand, good contesting in rucks, solid on his feet, exploits situations very well (keeping ball, knowing when to pass, fix defenders). He was an U20 kiwi, one very nice player.

* for Bordeaux:
- that Baptise Serin kid, 20yo. Very good size and strength for a SH, was apparently an U20 France player, beats defenders, opens up defenses, fantastic stepping, insures his passing role and has a nice boot on him. Looks very hard on himself, a fast learner...yet another hell of a prospect at SH for France pretty soon.
- Seb Taofifenua: dude's still only 21, and he puts in the work in the loose, especially ball in hand, and is surprisingly strong in the scrum going by the clichés: big fat guy, from the Pac Islands...he and Poux were breaking everything Grenoble were putting in front of em.

P.S.: that cat looks gorgeous gastrubald. They are, after all, the majestic princes of nature.

this naht dabbil pust, plezz dun muddirate you dertii admuns:

Look, I've made art. Well, as usual you would say...but this is special, it's Wisniewski with Prokofiev backing him. Watch this beautiful direction-changing pass and try:

And yes, sorry Tonish...it's just that us Montpellier fanatics won't even look at the table as Montpellier wins our hearts regardless...Montpellier is number one in our eyes, doesn't matter what number the Top 14 gives them...for you, now an outsider of the Top 14, I can understand how you'd have the presence of mind to put the table up. You don't care for a team the way we do, this is just casual fun for you...

Anyone mentioned yet that Metro could be fined for there number being to hard to see.

Apparently each number is made up of the photo of fans who have paid to have their face on the jersey for the season and there is more confusion as to whether it had already been approved but the possible fine could be 50k euro and, presumably, the return of the money paid by the fans?!!

Just seen the highlights of the weekend games and Grenoble and Castres looked very good for their win......Stade were awful and the Lyon/Brive game struck me as a battle between two relegation candidates along with Oyonnax, Bayonne and LaR although the latter were pretty good for their win against ST!!!

Glad for RM92! Couldn't watch but will certainly download it. So 8 points after 2 away games and tough opponents... not oo bad!

Will not see that often Montpellier have one more point than Racing but pts scored (57) and pts scored against (56) exactly the same..... bingo!!!!

ps the Racing numbers problem, remember that this is a stadium to be built South of Paris so fines this season? and the next couple could be huge!!!!!!!!

PPS For Stormer yes they have played 2 away games but lost one.!!!!!!!

RR XV of the week SLIDESHOW:

So I watched La Rochelle Toulouse.
Interesting, because the latter weren't necessarily as terrible as the score would imply. Yann David really on form, brutal ball in hand and on his defensive hits, Fritz still damaging, Fickou with some good stepping as he came in late. Vincent Clerc definitely needs lots of playing time to get back, if he ever is to. Médard had some good stretches, and the young SH Bézy was pretty darn good. McAlister with a darn good first game, but then there's the pack...Dusautoir looked in good form and did make 15 tackles (1 missed), but lots of penalties/infringements, needs to be lots more efficient.

La Rochelle generally played like the underdog team at home, as we've grown accustomed to seeing now in the Top 14. Oyonnax last year quasi-invincible and most certainly furious when in their house, same here. The great doors of the Atlantic have engulfed upon its first poor victim. This is how they do it: enormous aggressiveness from the get-go, and never look back. Toulouse come in, like, we're big we'll walk all over them. LAR is on every ball, contests in the rucks aggressively, clears out rucks and pesky Toulousains defenders like they're the plague. Beat the crap out of em in the scrum for 80min. And took their opportunities on attack, and yes ladies n gentlemen, those boys can put some attacking sequences together. And that Alofa/Bobo duo on the wings...dayummm.

38yo Bobo makes Vincent Clerc look like an inanimate sextoy:

Yes, thanks, I was disappointed with the loss to BB but what I was getting at is that we aren't that poorly placed when you take into account that of the teams lying above us only Toulon have also played 2 games away with BB not even 1 single game away yet.

Still very early in the season so the log should probably not be taken as anything close to indicative this early on but RM92 not looking too bad. What I am hoping for is more bonus points. It is crucially important as something that has cost the Stormers as well in recent years. I wonder sometimes if I am a massochist if I look at the teams I support and their approach to sports.

true it's early but the games won now count just as much as the end of season, the very fact is all games at home have to be won if you want to finish in the top 6 you need to target 6 away games winning 4 and picking up 2 bonus point for the other 2 games, plus with the defensive bonus point down to 5 those will be hard to get and very fact if you are 5 behind the win is still very much a possibility. The teams that use their players wisely and give them max of rest will be the ones who will be challenging at the end. There are some very tough teams and no games are easy, but Racing v Toulon showed that perfectly although Racing were not at their very best they got the result from the team everybody has to beat if they want to compete, so i think after a couple of awkward seasons they will be there or there abouts come the playoffs, then its all about one game, win and move on!!!!!!!
