Top 14 Day 10

Montpellier still top of the TOP 14!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Montpellier still top of TOP 14!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SHUT UP !! SHUT UUUUUUUUUUUUUUP !!!!
plus, you're totally wrong now, TOULOUSE TOP OF THE TOP 14 !!!!!!!!!!! YEAHH !!!!

but I do reckon they haven't won a single match on the road....0-4. But a perfect 6-0 at home though.

Toulon in deed comfortable and organized on defense, but couldn't score a single 5pointer though they had clear advantages against Toulouse, scrum etc...

A big win for Toulouse, but not a super positive match for them, or for the future....they looked very vulnerable.

counting on an attackless Toulon and Jonny missing 2 key penalties (including right in front of the post) and then two drops...for a ONE POINT win at home ?....

While certain parties seem to make little to no sense, Biarritz once again showing their lack of organisation as their defence lets two easy tries in and the score is already 20.0 nil at 18 minutes gone!!

Whilst I cannot gainsay the total commitment of the players.....well not all of them of course and they would be the usual elderly candidates....the defensive line is slow to react and is like a zigzag, there is no one following the over hit balls from Yach and the positioning of the full back and his tackling are the best of the season for being, as usual, awful!!! Good news is that there has been no score in nearkly 5 minutes and BO are actually in the 22 of Castres for the first time but there will be, no doubt, yes there has just been a knock on...................

Now I get it.....we are lulling them inot a false sense of security and allowing them a 30 pint head start before we come strongly back and only lose by 20?

Now half time and score is 27.0 and bonus point won.......that will put Castes 17 ahead of us, Bayonne (12th) 12 and Oyonnax (13th) presuming they lose (16-3 down to Grenoble) 9 points ahead us (14th) with Racing down here next week!

pretty boring stuff until it turned mega-suspense. Very, very sorry for Wilko, he must feel absolutely horrible but I've got to take a Toulouse win at home...it's the only place they know how to win (in the Top 14 at least :D) ! If they start losing there......

Montpellier not first anymore, not even second not even third not even fourth..................................!

Nothing really proved as yet except that if Biarritz's chicken is not cooked, it is very lightly browned!! It would need a Houdini escape job now and that ain't going to happen!!

^ holy crap ASM didn't come too far from LOSING AT HOME there ! Just a 7 point victory on BRIVE ?........conceding 29 at home ?? dang.
USAP UBB looks good...I'm gonna get that one. I'll bet Sofiane Guitoune scored another one....probably still leads the league in tries scored.

Ouch, just what on Earth is happening to Biarritz ???.........I'm guessing it is in deed time you'd leave for a bit, my dear Tony !...

Sorry Tony to be pedantic but if you copied and pasted Rugbyrama's league positions you would find Montpellier 4th as they have a far better average than USAP + 58 PTS MORE !!!!!!! and just a mere 20pts more than BIARRITZ + an average of 201pts more than BO, if we are trying to wind up the Montpellerian lets firstly get the facts right, then we shall see!!!!!!!
All the same have a good end of wekend, no pressure Racing Metro next Sat..................

They were made to work very hard for their victory which is no 66 at home without defeat. What i have been saying all season the toughest league in the World by miles.

oh I don't know about that...but it's become a very tough league in deed. Tough luck for MP, they really need to regroup and find that opening season form. Galthié looked like he was on top of the world earlier in the season, and everything was going their way. Now they look very beatable again, but still a step up from last year.

All the teams will loose matches this season, what will become important are the bonus points they will make all the difference at the end of the season + of course no home matches are to be lost, Montpellier will soon have Rene Ranger, Ebersohm + Timani, which will bolster the attack so things are going more or less to plan with the occaisonal blip, but then nobody is perfect especially this season!!!

fer sher. Just look at Toulouse 6/6 home, 0/4 away, and they're the league leaders. Quite the paradigm.

Can I help it if they in fact changed the league table after I, as you say, copied it...................too busy with my life to make it up myself!!

I would entirely agree on the fact that most sides can beat others in this league due to the way in which the away games are played and that bonus points wil be crucial come the end of the season and, have to say, cannot see MHR NOT being in the play offs come May so do not worry Bigwwhateveryourcallyourselfthesedays!

Watched the Racing/Stade game this morning and they did well to keep Stade out despite having their scrum thrashed in the loose and tight! Thought Sexton, who now has 106 points form 10 games, played well and organised the team well. Lauret and Bonneval were exceptional but Pelisse was very disappointing!

Clermont, a bit like Toulouse, have not really fired on all cylnders as yet and with a very strong team struggled to hold the, to me, surprise package of the season so far in Brive who I thought (hoped?) would be fighting along with Oynnax!

Oynnax and UBB fought well with the latter level with USAP at half time but eventually succumbed.............

Finally, that was the biggest defeat for Biarritz for three years (Clemont 41-0) and there is now an undercurrent against Blanco that is growing and indeed, calls for a boycott of Agullera this weekend to show the strength of feeling. I have little doubt that this will fail, supporters will turn up and equally sure that Blanco will not resign due to the massive loyalty that he has been and will be shown by the long term supporters, in my opinon, misplaced being based on emotion rather than logic!

Tony your saying that teams haven't fired on all cylinders, i dont think that is all that true, i keep saying this is one of the hardest leagues especially this season, and personally i think the competition between teams throughout is massive . i watched the Clermont v Brive game and Clermont played well but were not allowed to play as thay have done in previous years. The defences are enormous and it is getting more and more dificult to score tries, thus the penalties turned into points begin to count even more. Video analysts are becoming a massive part of the game i know how much time Montpellier and Galthie spends on videos looking at every single item the opposition can bring to the table. Can you believe we have finished Day 10 and the leader has 31pts (3.1pts per game) last season Clermont were top with 91, that means Toulouse will have to score 3.75 pts per game to emmulate last seasons total, that is not going to happen. It would not surprise me if as little as less than 83 pts will win the Championship, before the playoffs.

Take you point and maybe it is both?

I must admit you are absolutely right in that defences are getting bigger, stronger and better organised (and that video anlaysis is a huge contributor to that) but I am not a big fan of what is happening as it is very much turning the game into a penalty seeking, error creating, stop start bish bash sort of English game that is not the French way and invariably turns the non partsian watcher cold although the partisan wil not care as long as their side are winning!

Maybe it will do the French national team some good come the internationals but do not see it............especially when most other countries are trying to see a more open running game ala the French!!!

One thing that does happen more often than not is the attacking scrum rarely do you see the ball come out clean but the no.8 holds pushing forward awaiting the penalty, winning is money and money is the game whether you like it or not, i'm afraid it is not going to change.
