Tony Brown to join Highlanders in South Africa

Hey ... I remember this guy ... NZ Herald reports that Tony Brown has joined the Highlanders due to an injury to Lima Sopoaga.

I guess that his experience will be welcome, but, at 36, they won't be wanting him to play for too much of the match

yeah I heard some time ago that he was bound to join the highlanders in the back offices but since he was match fit playing in Japan they have asked him to bring his boots since slade was injured. Now the next guy is down he's sure to feature. Will be interesting.

Robinson will start at 10 (he should have been starting there for the last two weeks...), with Brown likely to provide cover from the bench. I wouldn't expect Brown to get much gametime, as I don't think he's played much high level rugby lately, and is 36!

Exactly. Its very lucky for Lima that he got injured..
He is nowhere near ready to start yet, if he had put in a few more average games then we probably would have seen everyone dismissing him forever en masse..

The initial injury occurred at the end of January, and it was six weeks then, so I guess he'll be back playing mid March

Yeah, Sopoaga was out of his depth - in some ways it was lucky for the Highlanders that he got injured, as Joseph seemed oblivious to this fact! He's certainly talented, he just needs another season or two of rugby before he's ready for this level.

I agree that Robinson should be starting and finishing the next few games unless he gets injured, as I'm really not confident in Brown being up to Super Rugby level..
