The LRZ tracker thread (/general IPP thread)

To just be in a practice squad, that is crazy 😂
You wouldn't believe the money in NFL, this is the reason that Americans think that the English football Premiership holds potential to grow and has been under marketed hahahaha.

The NFLs revenue is about 80% higher than the EPL I believe, it's crazy for what is essentially a global niche sport lol

and even then the NBA and MLB dwarf it in terms of average salaries (not sure how much of that is because the mega stars in NBA/MLB get paid a lot more or if it's spread across the board) - stupid money in American sports

Is it that surprising? I mean, America is practically a continent by itself with a population of over 330 million people. England is tiny in comparison with a population of 50 odd million.

If you want to talk global, just the top 5 football leagues in the world make more money than the NFL so not really that close.

I mean it does matter, Jags have been playing with 2 added a 3rd on occasion. If their entire offence is based around Thomas that radically reduces the number of starts LRZ is open for.
With Kirk and Davis on the way out, they don't have depth, but a franchise like Jags in the position they are will definitely not use a rookie as Thomas fodder. They need solidity from Lawrence, and real options to compliment their new star.

But all this is speculation, the new coach might do whatever he wants and hardly use Lawrence and Co.

It doesn't matter in that at this stage LRZ has yet to make a roster. It doesn't matter if it was Thomas Jr, Chase, or Jefferson as the number one option. What matters for him is what he offers in comparison to the guy who's looking for the 5th/6th wr spot. Once on the roster his options expand and you can carve out a role without being a starter.

They will obviously look to add talent through the draft and FA but their current lack of depth is worse than most rosters so it's a pretty good situation for LRZ.

There's rumours about a Lawrence trade but if he's on the roster, no coach will hardly use him.

NBA only have 12 man rosters compared to 53. Also have supermax contracts which the NFL doesn't. MLB doesn't have a salary cap. Which allows them to pay mad money for those who can last the 6ish years to get a big contract.

So apparently LRZs salary has been published as 840k dollars, which is about what I predicted.

As much money as he would earn for a top club in Europe, double his Glos salary.

No slight on him but realistically he will never make it in the NFL he is up against people who have been playing it all there lives and have a real feel and instincts for the game. Best of luck to him though, hope he proves me wrong.

I mean your not wrong, but the IPP isn't about finding talent for the league, the league is stacked. It's about selling the NFL worldwide, similar to the reason every Premier league side has at least 1 Asian and African player...

Gotta get into those markets, sell out the Allianz Arena, Wembley, Spurs, Corinthians arena and stadio Azteca...

Croke Park next season too. Will finally get an answer as to whether the NFL is as big as Leinster Rugby.

I mean I literally know nothing about the NFL just look at this thread to see how LRZ is getting on. I was only going off of what he said, chasing his dream etc etc. Still cant get over the fact that you get paid so much just to be in a practice squad, could you make a career out of just getting into practice squads ?

Of course 200 to 900k per year. The issue is the career doesn't last long, and you'd have to constantly move to a new city every year, and the number of veterans reduces meaning its harder to find a spot.

I'd say players who pick up practise squad spots only probably only make up to 3 years or so max, with the amount of talent that enters the league each year.

When I was at the Giants there were a number of practise squad spots used for older veteran players who were helping the franchise in other ways, mostly marketing. But that was 13 years ago
