After a major championship an an inquest thread is shurely obligatory. Wales, Aus, NZ and France of course have no need for this one yet but I find it healthy to discuss the reasons for your teams faiure and ultimate demise.
I'm an England fan and will start. England are are on their way home because:
1. MJ, despite being one of the greatest second row forwards ever seen, does not cut it for me as a chief. You cannot play people out of position and expect a happy outcome.
2. Some the England team, despite having had a successful time, are long past their sell-by date. Wilko and Tinders are two. Thompson another.
3. Flood must learn to tackle. He's a shirt grabber (lifter?). Every back row forward in the world will be looking forward to wilko's retirement.
4. Tuilagi is a great find but very one dimensional. Crash ball is one thing, knowing when to crash or offload is another. Needs to learn. How much ball did Armitage/Ashtom/Cueto get from him? The wingers must look for the ball for shure but every back row in the universe knows that Tuiagi ain't gonna pass.
5. My new England team would be:
1: Cole/Stevens
2. Hartley
3. Corrbo
4. Lawes
5. Palmer
6. Wood
8. Easter
7. Haskell
9. Youngs
10. Geraghty/Flood
11. Ashton
12. Anybody but Banahan (Me maybe! I'59 but would fancy it)
13. Tuilagi
14. Armitage
15. Foden
