The Fastest RWC relay squad!

1. Matt Dunning
2. Matt Dunning
3. Matt Dunning
4. Matt Dunning

I heard somewhere that Thomson was faster than Guildford, but I can't find it now, so it's probably not tru and I'll just gtfo.

From the French squad, Rougerie, Heymans, Médard and Heymans probably, with Palisson not far away.

None of our guys are super quick. Turner and Davis (who aren't in the WC squad) are probably our best 100m sprinters. JOC/Beale/Ioane/Mitchell have great pace, just not a great top speed. (well all good rugby wingers don't anymore because the need to bulk up)

yeah davies has insane pace, he'd be faster than turner i'd say

I was at the SA vs. NZ test match in Port Elizabeth and could not believe Derek Hougaard's pace. When Israel Dagg broke through Derek turned and caught him from behind on the cross cover. Hougaards has extreme GASSSSSS!

It was crazy to see live! They say he is faster than Spies who runs the 100m in 10.7 sec.

Ireland would be the worst:

BO'D
Bowe
Earls
Kearney

There is a real lack of speed merchants in the Ireland squad since Hickie retired

If we were to pick the 4 fastest guys in the team, I would say the list, from fastest to slowest is:

4. Francois Hougaard
3. Pierre Spies
2. Gio Aplon
1. Bryan Habana

I know this because the team doctor gave a presentation at the varsity team I played for last year, and told us that they are the fastest guys in the squad. He also said that on a full 100m sprint, there is almost half a second between the running times of Pierre Spies, Bryan Habana and Gio Aplon.

there's no way that spies or hougaard is faster than aplon i would think. if bjorn basson was there then he would definately be one of the 4. and how i miss tonderai chavanga...easily THE fastest wing we ever had, just never saw his pace enough times...

"Derek" u say...? :p

haha but yea i also thought dagg was gone. knew hougaard was fast but didn't think he was THAT fast....

England's wouldn't be that impressive:

1. Ashton
2. Foden
3. Armitage
4. Tuilagi

If it was just in general we'd do a little better with Varndell/Monye/Wade in there

dude don't forget simpson he's insanely fast. don't know where he'd come but definitely in top 4

Basson? is that the dude that played for Cheetahs? I saw Hosea Gear smoke him live. He is fast thou might have just been one of those times that Gear got the drop on him

This was in reply to a post by James5000, but I thought it would be a fun discussion around all the hating going on in the official match threads. So what do you guys reckon? Especially the minnows???

The fastest guys in New Zealand with their current squad would probably be:

4. Israel Dagg
3. Richard Kahui
2. Sitiveni Sivivatu
1. Zac Guildford

That would be my guess anyway. For the Aussies:

4. James O Connor
3. Drew Mitchell
2. Kurtley Beale
1. Digby Ioane

England would probably be:

4. Shontane Hape
3. Ben Foden
2. Tom Croft (Only loose forward in the world that comes close to Spies regarding speed. Perhaps Stephen Ferris and Ryan Kankowski too, but Croft is DAMN fast)
1. Chris Ashton

I actually think that the Welsh team would also be pretty fast. But I do agree that we have among the fastest players in world rugby. Of course, it doesn't help that the New Zealanders have the better players. Except for Francois Hougaard.

Sorry for bringing this up stumbled upon it
re SA
over 100m Habana is definately quicker than Hougaard, he has a mean sidestep and is quicker over short distances but I watched Stormers v Bulls at Newlands where Habana closed him down quickly once he got to full pace and Hougaard had a head start. Habana is more of a sprinting athlete now than a Rugby winger after the bulk up he seems to take slightly longer to get to full pace, and he is always running from a standing start! And is often worned out chasing SA`s long up and unders hahaha.

NZ I reckon
Zac Guildford
Cory Jane
Toeava / Kahui
SBW
Not sure how fast Nonu is but he is not slow

Tonderai looked insanely quick they said he did 100 in 10.2. If he was a NZ player he would have had an amazing career.

Nah mate fastest he got clocked at was 10.5, still the fastest player in world rugby. 10.2 seconds is totallally inaccurate however.

I think u are correct
I remember reading an article where he said it was 10.5.

I remember at Stormers v Bulls to me Habana when he was fresh looked the fastest man on the field by some distance, but he looks like he tires easily.he was chasing the ball the whole game then at the death he had a dart at the line only to be dragged back by his **** by Basson. But once again he wasnt at full pace it looked like Basson ran and reached out just as he put the burners on.

Was Habana officially clocked over 100m at the previous world cup?

Newspapers reported that Simpson is the quickest man in the England squad. Stick him in place of Tuilagi for certain.

Armitage is next fastest I think, Ashton and Foden are rapid but wouldn't be surprised if Croft and Youngs beat them.

BO'D
Bowe
Earls
Kearney

If Trimble isn't faster than BOD and Kearney (and probably Bowe) then I'm a monkey's uncle. Also think Ferris, and if fit Wallace, would probably be in that team.
