In honour of the Barrett brothers being the first 3 siblings to start for the All Blacks together, I thought it would be a bit of fun to produce a 23 made up entirely of siblings. I'm taking them at their current playing ability in 2018, so no golden oldies...

1. Mako Vunipola (Saracens/England)
2. Bismark Du Plessis (Montpellier/South Africa)
3. Owen Franks (Crusaders/New Zealand)
4. Sam Whitelock (Crusaders/New Zealand)

9. Ben Youngs (Leicester/England)
10. Beauden Barrett (Hurricanes/New Zealand)
11. Julian Savea (Hurricanes/New Zealand)
12. Jordie Barrett (Hurricanes/New Zealand)

16. Tom Youngs (Leicester/England)
17. Ben Franks (Northampton Saints/New Zealand)

20. Sam Simmonds (Exeter/England)
21. Lloyd Williams (Cardiff Blues/Wales)
22. Joe Simmonds (Exeter)

Struggled with 9s a bit, who'd have thought so many of those yappy little madams were only children... ;p

Obviously there are a lot of people who I didn't include, but rather than list them off, I'll leave it to you to come up with a better squad!!

Wanted to get the curry brothers in as well somehow

The lack of Kearney's really drags down the handsomeness of those teams.

If it was all-time the WallacesW would be pretty useful given all three were Lions.

Hard to improve on.

Dave isn't really up to it anymore though sadly. That said, having them and Tommy Bowe together in the back three could probably claim to be the most attractive back three ever to take to a rugby pitch. Irish rugby is a bit short on siblings at the moment, we've got the Scannells at Munster and two sperate sets of Byrnes coming through at Leinster. Can't think of anyone else.

If I ever invent a time machine, first up would be stopping the Barretts parents getting together to given the rest of the world a chance.:D:D Hard to argue with the teams people already have to be honest.

I seem to remember reading that Trevor Leota and his six brothers entered a sevens team together, not quite on the level of the Wallace brothers, but a frightening prospect all the same. Similarly, Charlie and Hugh Vyvyan played together with their five brothers in the Penryn sevens tournament many moons ago.

Not that you could make a case for their inclusion over those mentioned, but it would be fun to throw the Armitage brothers in - lesser known brothers Bevon and Guy are still playing in The Championship AFAIK.

Ma'aa Nonu might still have a shout, but if his brothers Pale (still trotting out for Redruth occasionally in National 2 South and Tulima at Anselmians) have to feature too, the claim is much weaker.

Haha, good spot. Their bench is nonsense though...16.Jannie du Plessis,17.Tom Youngs (England),18. Ben Franks (New Zealand), 19.Richie Gray (Scotland), 20. Delon Armitage (England) ,21. Marcus Watson (England), 22. Dave Kearney (Ireland), 23. Akira Ioane

where is the scrum half cover!? Eddie trolling with his selection again I reckon

Strong effort, the only very minor quibble I would have is with the props (and I had the same problem thinking about this). Tom C-D is really a hooker, can take a turn at Loosehead, but defs not at TH. Ethan Waller is also primarily a Loosehead and can't - too my knowledge - play both sides. That being said, pushing is pushing and that team would probably beat the current England lot in their current form, so fair play!

Yeah I did struggle with Props, I could only find TCD described as a versatile front rower so wasn't sure about sides of the scrum. Reliably (ish) informed by my Saints supporting brother that Saints did briefly try to convert Ethan Waller to a tighthead when he was stuck behind Alex Waller and Corbs, but I have no idea if he ever played a senior match there.

If you're changing a Cowan-Dickie's position, I'd have thought it should be Luke - Tom's not a particularly big guy and Luke converted to hooker from prop. My firsthand experience of front row play is limited to sevens and three man mini-rugby scrums, but my understanding is that the physical attributes of a hooker are more akin to that of a TH, but you're right, I've only ever seen Tom play 1 or 2.
