Both the Swans and Lions get bigger crowds then the average NRL team ,where as the Melbourne Storm are lucky to get 10,000 ppl at there games dispite being one of the most successful clubs in the NRL since there inception .VIC,WA and SA hate League and until the NRL have successful clubs in all 3 states they cant really consider themselves a true National game.
Victorians are insular, and we all know that, but as for WA hating league... well correct me if I'm wrong, but I was told by Perth residing mate of my dad's that the Western Red's averaged crowds of 30,000 when they were part of the Super League... Surely if WA hated RL with such a passion, no one would have turned up to their games. Right?

It was more like 20,000 or just over but West Aussies will support any of our teams. League is not a popular sport over here at all, most ppl have no idea about the game ,there much more into real Rugby as most of the AFL states are.
The only time they ever show it on tv these days is once a week at around 1am on a monday morning because no one watches it.
The SOO series each year is played on wednesday's, but still manages to rate in the top 10 of all programming almost every year mate, so I don't know what sunday night has to do with it...

Most ppl are not at home during the day on the weekends, the only program with huge daytime ratings on a saturday/sunday is the AFL GF.
As for SOO on wednesday, I think you'll find that the biggest rating nights are on Sunday through to thursday nights due to most ppl being at home infront of the telly ......... just look at the highest rating shows over the last few years...
Big Brother Final (sunday night)
Australian Idol (sunday night)
Australian Idol final (monday night)
Lost (thursday night)
Desperate Housewives (wednesday/tuesday night)
Dancing with the stars final (Sunday night)
Dancing with the stars (tuesday night)
I don't think I remember seeing those figures... last time I saw total aggregate ratings that included all country area ratings etc as well (what you've shown me is the aggregate city ratings) and those had the NRL at around 4 million and the AFL at around 5 million... But I can't be f***ed looking it up.

2005 TV ratings
Leighton in the final of the Aussie Open was actually the highest rating program of the year but it aired in the summer non-rating period. On a sunday night.
Long live the NRL Footy Show but as for the game AFL>NRL for eva!! :bleh!:
