Should be an interesting match ... the Hurricanes need the win to stay in contention for the playoffs, the Rebels are probably only a remote chance now, but are tough to beat at home.

Interesting to see that Ardie Savea starts on the Openside Flank, with Jack Lam moving to the bench

Here's the Hurricanes side http://www.planetrugby.com/story/0,25883,3824_9300394,00.html

Replacements: 16 Motu Matu'u, 17 Chris Eves, 18 Jeffrey Toomaga-Allen, 19 Blade Thomson/Brad Shields, 20 Jack Lam, 21 Billy Guyton, 22 Tim Bateman, 23 Matt Proctor

... And the Rebels have been named http://www.planetrugby.com/story/0,25883,3824_9300552,00.html

Will be there again and hoping the Rebels can come away with a surprise win. I thought they had a chance to beat the Sharks and they almost did, and I think the Canes will try to play fast paced rugby which might present the Rebels opportunities to score through counter attacking. Rebels need to limit barrett's penalty opportunities as he rarely misses and stay away from Motu Matu'u when he comes on :)

What's the weather meant to be like this time IA ... you've got a few in your side that should be pretty familiar with the Hurricanes style of play, and what's needed to shut them down :)

the forecast for Friday is 18 degrees "Cloud increasing. Isolated showers developing during the late afternoon and evening. Winds northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h turning northerly 20 to 30 km/h in the morning."

I know we've beaten them before at AAMI Park but they are red hot at the moment

Good to see Lam given a rest - he looked a bit weary last week, and Savea deserves another chance in the starting side. Not sure about resting Toomaga-Allen though, as he was impressive against the Tahs.

Hopefully Julian Savea plays well this week, as he's been pretty quiet these last couple of weeks after looking in devastating form earlier in the season....

I've added the Rebels at the top of the thread ... Luke Burgess starts again at halfback as Nic Stirzaker is now on the injured list

It's largely the same side they have been playing all year

Edit:- if I have to listen to Tim-ARTH-y Horan, call Tamati Ellison "Ti -MART- ee" Ellison one more time ... sorry, it's a pet peeve of mine ... along with learned New Zealand commentators that don't know that South African Openside Flankers wear the number 6, and Blindside Flankers wear the Number 7 ... and make stupid comments about how the player wearing 7 is big for an Openside flanker ... anyway, not that relevant to the thread ... but I feel better now ... breathe in, breathe out ... :)

9-3 to the Hurricanes by the way, with 22 minutes gone

Good work from Jason Woodward, puts Bryce Hegarty in for the opening try ... Woodward converts 10-9 to the Rebels with 28 mins gone

Dear diary ... no that's not right ... Captain's log ... Oh, never mind ...Penalty to the Hurricanes which Barrett slots ... 12-10 to the Hurricanes 35 mins gone

... a tumbleweed blows through this thread, as the half time siren blows ... penalty to the rebels, which Woodward misses from a long way out

Average match do far. The Canes have had most of the ball, but the Rebels defense has been pretty good. I feel the Canes need to attack a bit closer to the breakdown to draw in a few Rebels defenders before shifting it wide...

LOL ... yeah, the Canes certainly have enough possession ... but, like you said, the Rebel's defence is great ... hoping the Hurricanes back three can cut loose in the 2nd half

Edit - a kickable penalty to the Canes ... which Barrett gets (5 from 5 tonight so far) ... 2 minutes into the second half

... another penalty chance for Barrett ... which ... rebounds of the posts and the Rebels clear 45 minutes gone

... yet another penalty chance for Barrett (rebels off side) ... but it's off to the right

Hold onto the ball young Julian....

Could be another 3 for the Canes... and it's off the post.. and he misses another...

What a surprise ... another penalty ... right out in front ... Barrett's got it 18-10 to the Canes

Another Penalty, but Barrett misses the touch finder ... but a poor clearance gives the Canes the lineout throw

Another Penalty ... the Rebs get a stern telling off (last warning) ... Barrett put's it in the corner ... but they blow the overlap

Canes come close again. You get the feeling it is only a matter of time before they crack this Rebels defense (I still think they should have gone for the 3 before though...).

Dane Coles replaced ... he's limping ... defensive penalty to the rebels

TRY! Conrad Smith, after a great run from Andre Taylor ... Barrett converts the try 25 - 10 to the Canes ... a tough ask for the Rebels with just over 20 mins to go

Hope it's not too serious - he is vital for the AB's this year.

Finally a try for the Canes. Great break by Taylor initially...

It didn't look too serious ... he was probably due to be replaced anyway, so it was probably just to be safe

... Penalty to the Rebels which Woodward misses

Vito penalised for not rolling away ... Hegarty puts it in the corner ... they try to get the drive going from the lineout, the Hurricanes penalised for collapsing the maul ... Canes on final warning ... Rebels pressuring the line ... Conrad Smith goes to the bin!

Could be a try to the Rebels ... the TMO checks ... I can't tell ... held up in goal, 5M scrum

The Canes need to be careful ... too many resets ... Tamati Ellison looks to have scored for the Rebels ... it's awarded, Woodward misses the conversion 25-15 with 7 mins to go

Poor discipline from the Canes.... followed up by some pretty good defense... looks like it has been held-up...

EDIT: Woodwards kicking tonight is really costing the Rebels...

Great counter ruck from the Rebels ... they are pressuring the line, but give away a penalty at the breakdown

... the discipline hasn't been great from either side to be honest

Did Hegarty actually tap that ball in that penalty? ... Inman would have scored then, but it was a forward pass

Full time 25-15 to the Canes

Game over. Not the best display of rugby from either side. The Canes will be happy to take the 4 points though.

Yep, let's see if the Crusaders can pass them on the points table with their game against the Reds

Oh look, another week of players grabbing the line out jumper and being penalised... Stupid stupid players.

Though the Rebels didn't get pinged for it a few times, so the ref wasn't very consistent either.
