But from a NZ perspective this is a big round to help boost the chances of one or more teams following what will likely be the crucaders (as top qualifier) into the finals. With all 4 teams coming up against sides from outside the NZ conference it's a chance to either bring in extra points to the NZ table or let them slip elsewhere.

Can the Highlanders bounce back at home from recent losses and hold the woeful brumbies head below the watermark? I think they can do it mostly off the back of a well earned rest that came with perfect timing and maybe the return of the key player that was supposed to turn the hurricanes fortunes around (colin slade).

Even with injuries tearing the quad to shreds the chiefs have almost been good enough in all their games so far with just a few handling errors the difference between winning and losing. The Tahs havn't been able to take advantage of their strong start to the season but will be better with barnes back in the side. Though I'm picking the chiefs as they should relish the conditions away from home.

Blues simply need to bag 5 points here against a bottom feeding team but as the canes found out last weekend that's easier said than done. But at least the blues will be at home for this one.

Canes vs. Bulls is really a battle for survival of two teams performing well below expectations. Defending champs the bulls haven't looked themselves this season while last weekendâ€™s match for the hurricanes will have to go down as maybe the sides worst moment in the history of super competition.

For the other games I'm picking

Lions to knock the cocky Reds off their high horse
Sharks to shock the Stormers

maybe i'm picking against form for those last 2 but when did anything ever go according to plan? Lions should be tough at home and have been impressive at times. Sharks were very good in their loss to the crucaders and if they stick to that blueprint at home they will be hard to beat.

Confirmed: Colin Slade will play for the highlanders this weekend, worth switching on just for that. Hopefully hosea gear will be back this week to.

Tim Nanai-Williams, Lelia Masaga, Richard Kahui, Dwayne Sweeney, Sitiveni Sivivatu, Mike Delany, Brendon Leonard; Liam Messam (capt), Tanerau Latimer, Scott Waldrom, Isaac Ross, Craig Clarke, Nathan White, Hika Elliot, Toby Smith. Reserves: Aled de Malmanche, Sona Taumalolo, Culum Retallick, Fritz Lee, Tawera Kerr-Barlow,, Tana Umaga, Save Tokula.

really worried about Sweeny at 12 for Tana. Dwayne's passing just hasn't been happening this season and having him so close in could starve the chiefs classy outside 4 players of some much needed ball. I'd sooner play Kahui at 12 and Tokula at 13 or bring jackson-willison in to play 12. Good to see toby smith back starting and Barlow back in the squad. Moa has not impressed coming off the bench. No backup 10 on the bench so nanai will cover 10, big call for a guy who should really be concentrating on improving his defence and positional play.

Good thing about this 22 is the firepower on the bench. Aled, Sona, Fritz, barlow and tokula can all add genuine impact late in the game if conditions suit.
