Cheetahs to take this one before injuires derail their campaign like every year due to lack of proper depth.

I'm slightly favoring the Lions for this game, but these are probably the two teams I know the least about!

All I know is, The Cheetahs lost two of their most dangerous runners in Sarel Pretorius and Viljoen. Without those two, it will be a toss up. Lions at home but they haven't really proven anything since their inclusion. My heart is with the Cheetahs but my head says Lions..

I'm backing the Cheetahs for the win. They looked much more composed than the Lions did in the preseason and that puts them ahead IMO.

It's going to be a battle of the fly halves... Elton Jantjes vs Johan Goosen...

if it comes down to penalties, Goosen to overshadow Jantjes...

Cheetahs by 8.

Agreed. Jantjes is talented but has bad days and Goosen is a 100%-er at goal.

Bloemfontein - The Springbok and Cheetahs prop Coenie Oosthuizen has allegedly been involved in another fistfight in a Bloemfontein bar.

Oosthuizen allegedly heard two men having an argument when he stepped in uninvited and started pushing and shoving one of the men.

"He pushed me and said he would p**s me to death," one of the men said. "He's done it before."

In 2009, Volksblad reported on another incident involving Oosthuizen where he allegedly broke a student's jaw. Oosthuizen denied the allegation.

In the latest incident the owner of the bar Barba's had asked the two men to leave the premises when Oosthuizen stepped in.

"We weren't even out the door when Coenie came from behind and threw a punch at my friend," the man said. "When he fell, Coenie sat on him and hit him repeatedly."

After the alleged incident, Oosthuizen apparently got in his car and drove off.

The 23-year-old who was assaulted hails from Bloemfontein and is currently living in Pretoria.

"I'll consider legal action after I've seen the security footage."

Michael Horak, Cheetahs assistant coach, said the rugby union did not have any knowledge of the alleged incident.

"We can't get a hold of Coenie," he said

LOL! ja I can just imagine how Coenie said that!! my question is, if they can't get hold of Coenie, then is he lying in a ditch somewhere, or in prison. And is he going to play the weekend??

Hmmm that doesn't sound good, hope it's not true. He's not a Bok though... Stupid News24

He did play, but I think it was against the Barbarians, which doesn't count as a cap. Andries Strauss, Elton Jantjies and Charl McLeod have the same problem

Strange that; Coenie's non-cap. If I remember correctly both Wian du Preez and Heinke van der Merwe also have one Springbok cap. It's as if PdV wanted to ruin them for other nations or something LOL; make sure they didn't end up playing for England or whomever.

Matches against the Barbarians never count as official caps (only in Wales)

Replacements: 16 Hercu Liebenberg, 17 Lourens Adriaanse, 18 Waltie Vermeulen, 19 Ashley Johnson, 20 Pieter van Zyl, 21 Sias Ebersohn, 22 Willie le Roux.

ANY PLAYER who isn't supporting their own bodyweight is being penalized by Mark Lawrence. It is a very interesting approach.

27-25 to the Lions. Didn't see the match, but was surprised to see only a single try scored in the game (by the Cheetahs), as neither team was known for their defensive prowess last season...

I caught the last half of this match. Pretty poor. Lions had the advantage in penalties and hardly created anything. Goosen went off injured and Ebersohn missed a kick that Johan surely would have slotted shortly afterwards.
