"The Stormers have made seven changes to their team to face the Rebels in Melbourne with Elton Jantjies returning to the starting line up.
Two of the changes are injury-enforced, with Rynhardt Elstadt and Duane Vermeulen out with knee injuries, whilst those tour-ending injuries have also led to some positional switches up front.
In one of those changes, regular hooker Deon Fourie will move from the front row to the back row (No.6), with Siya Kolisi shifting to the other side of the scrum and the exciting Nizaam Carr packing down at eighthman.
With Fourie on the flank, Currie Cup-winning hooker Scarra Ntubeni will make his first-ever Super Rugby start in the No.2 shirt.
In a final change in the front row, Pat Cilliers will start at tighthead prop in part of the rotation policy with Frans Malherbe, who reverts to the bench this week.
There is also a change at halfback for the Stormers, with Elton Jantjies and Louis Schreuder starting a game together for the first time at flyhalf and scrumhalf, respectively.
Flyhalf Gary van Aswegen, who has started the past four games in the No.10 jersey, drops to the bench this week where he is joined by Nic Groom who will be looking to make his first appearance of the tour. Scrumhalf Dewaldt Duvenage will sit out altogether this week.
Groom, in turn, will be joined on the bench by lock Gerbrandt Grobler, who flew to Australia this week as injury cover, and hooker Martin Bezuidenhout.
Flank/lock Don Armand and wing Gerhard van den Heever - who sat on the bench last week - make up the remainder of the replacements.
Stormers coach Allister Coetzee said,"Despite all the changes, some of them injury-enforced, this is an exciting team and we're determined to finish the tour on a high. We've trained well this week and we're looking forward to Friday's match."
The Stormers are still in Sydney and will transfer to Melbourne on Thursday ahead of Friday's match. They will fly back to South Africa on Saturday.

Coetzee had a chat to Graham Henry and HOPEFULLY has woken up to the fact
"Allister Coetzee will pick Elton Jantjies against the Rebels and finally give the Springbok flyhalf licence to play his natural game.
Jantjies has struggled in a Stormers system that rewards a defensive mindset but doesn't accommodate an attacking one in which mistakes are part of the latter mindset.
Coetzee, talking to the Cape Times, conceded that the halfback pairing selected against the Waratahs did not work – and that the duo of Gary van Aswegen and Dewaldt Duvenhage kicked away too much ball.
Coetzee will go with Jantjies and scrumhalf Louis Schreuder as a starting combination for the first time.
The Stormers have to win every remaining match with a bonus point. It won't happen but finally it has dawned on Coetzee that scoring tries is a must in this tournament.
The Stormers, with 17 tries, have scored the least. Even the Kings, with 21 tries, have scored more.
'I had a chat with Graham Henry after the Blues game and he said it doesn't bother him whethery they make 40 mistakes in a game, as long as they had 70 opportunities and they complete 50 percent of those. We are normally worried about the amount of mistakes and how many turnovers we concede,' said Coetzee.
The Stormers coach added that the teams who have beaten them have had a higher error rate but they have also had a higher completion rate on opportunities created.
It seems as if something finally switched on and that we can expect the Stormers to at least allow Jantjies the freedom to play his own game and not just be a catch and offload link at No 10."

Still very undecided on this game and the Sharks/Force one.

Not cause i am a Stormers fan but think they will beat the Rebels fairly convingsingly
but the Sharks have **** all over and are at a very low while the Force is on the up it seems

I think you're right seeing as the Rebels also have a rookie at 10 this week.

Sideshow news:

"
The Stormers have been fined a total of A$25,000 (ZAR 228,000) by SANZAR after they were found guilty of insulting and offensive conduct towards a match official.
A SANZAR Judicial Hearing conducted by Mr Terry Willis (Australia) has found the Stormers Team guilty of Misconduct under the SANZAR Code of Conduct following charges of insulting and offensive conduct towards Match Officials during the Stormers vs Hurricanes match on 26 April 2013."

Apparently he was told he is ****ing blind and should go back to club rugby

Hahahahaha classic, for once I support the Stormers.

Brilliant call to give the Rebels a penalty try! One of the first big calls which has been right this season. Fantastic to see it refereed well.

TMOs love the Rebels! I saw two knock-ons before that penalty (which was indeed a penalty, btw)

The one by Higginbotham isn't a knock on, ball carrier has responsibility to hold on to the ball. Didn't see any other, but obviously we weren't given replays of it.

This is the end of the Stormer's season now... They won't be able to recover from this.

:(

Crushing. Way to ruin my Friday night.
Anyway go Bulls I guess :D.

Well I stand corrected (though many referees make my same mistake I feel). The other one was one or two phases before, so not whithin the TMO's powers. I'm not really sure it was knock-on either, actually, but the lead-up to the try looked very, very messy.

Not quite.

The head on replay was shown twice. It was a clear and obvious knock forward by Higginbotham

If the force of a tackle dislodges the ball, it is not a knock on against the tackler, even if he contacts the ball in the course of the tackle. However, if a player strikes the ball out of the ball carrier's hands without making a tackle, then that IS a knock forward. Higginbotham did exactly that.

This another blunder by (I think) the same TMO that made a pig's breakfast of three decisions in the Chiefs v Rebels match. The worst part is that this was a critical error by the TMO because his blunder cost the Stormers the game.

In this case he had his right arm around the player with the ball and used slapped down with his left hand (I could be wrong, this is how I remember it) - what is the threshold required? If it's intentional it doesn't matter about anything else, is that the case?

just got home from the game. great win rebels considering we had vuna beale and o connor missing. phipps and delve on the bench.
how did bryce heggarty look at 10?

hmmm... Another shoddy refereeing blunder!!!

Now the stormers have the right to call this one blind as well...

shocking!!

The TMO judges on what the ref on the day asked him, that's why we got this ruling
Still Stormers did not deserve a win here, on current form they are dismal

I can understand the writer disagreeing with the knock on call, but he loses all credibility and just looks biased by saying a try wouldn't have been scored if the halfback hadn't been held back. He was clearly going to get there first and was only just beaten by Habana in the end. He definitely would've scored.

That article is a well written sob story. Boohoo the world is against south africa. There was one potential for a knock on if the Tmo had deemed the ball to be slapped forward by higginbotham in the tackle, the rest was spot on. Still, take 7 points away from the rebels and the stormers don't win. Maybe if the stormers decided to take 12 points from penalties instead of putting it into the corner they would have won, but no, they thought they could get through the rebels no name backline when they couldn't. That's why I enjoyed that win so much, 9 and 10 making their run on debut and only a handful of caps in that backline, no test players in the backs until Phipps came on at half time. It was a brave effort against a backline with habana, de Jong, jdv, aplon and pietersen in it. Give the rebels some credit instead of banging on about the Tmo. Becker was almost untouchable for the stormers, easily their best player.
