Scotland v Ireland

They used to have the best linout in the 6 nations, what's happened?[/b]

A certain O'Connell, O'Callaghan and Hayes turned up with a better one? Well in the second half anyway.

I'm not one for blowing Irelands trumpet but I havent seen a lineout yet that didnt struggle at one time or another with their ability to disrupt and steal. As far as I'm concerend that O'Connell & Hayes combination is peerless.

Oh hang on, I was looking in the wrong spot on the stats. It actually states a 12 won, 4 lost stat for Scotlands linout which sounds right!

Good point Logorrhea, O'Connell was great today. They'll have a sterner test at the linout next week against Wales though, which amazingly has been up there with the best this 6 nations, what a turn up for the books that's been!

On today's form, Ireland should fancy their chances next week, but I expect Wales to up their performance massively and get back to controlling the game as they had been doing before the French game. Should be a cracker though, I just hope I get to see it, as I'll be in Paris that day on the way back from Basel in Switzerland on an architecture trip with uni. Sure I'll be able to find a pub to watch what could be the best game of the 6 nations so far, where everything's at stake, grand slams n' all!

Sweet jesus dont mention the "G" word!

Was funny listening to Kidney talking to the BBC after the match. Whoever the interviewer was raised the question of the "GS" and Kidney immediately said he wouldnt be thinking of it until ........... oh ......... "well yeah I suppose were in with a shot on the final day" or somthing like that. Its as if he actually convinced himself it didnt exist until he could no longer avoid talking about it.

Made me chuckle.

BOD and POC are carrying Ireland though, with help from the likes of Ferris and Heaslip[/b]

"Help" from Ferris is rather harsh, he's not far off being the best loose forward in the tournament for my money.

Was a good game to watch, bit nervy and I almost **** myself when Murphy came on. Pleased Stringer and RoG played well, hopefully can keep it up for next week.
[/b][/quote]

You're right again our backrow was awesome today, did feel sorry for Leamy but can't say I was dissappointed to see Heaslip come on but Ferris again really stepped up to the plate, awesome, has surely booked his ticket for South Africa.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one re Murphy, please Deccie put Earls on the bench, the pressure is unbearable at the moment without the turnstyle on the bench.

they competed much better on Scottish ball in the second half, were fairly poor in the first half to be honest, has to be an area where we target Wales for the 80 though.

Was just looking at the stats on the bbc sport website. They claim Scotland had 3 linouts and won them all. Ueless! I thought this was where the game slipped from Scottish hands, their lineouts were terrible, loosing just about all of them in the second half! They used to have the best linout in the 6 nations, what's happened?

In the first 20 of the second half, where Ireland pulled away, Scotland couldn't get out of their own half, because every time they won a penalty for holding on, they lost the ensuing linout giving Ireland another attackling opportunity which innevitably led to a try. If Scotland can sort this out, they are bulding a very handy team with some exciting runners in the backs who can score tries (at last), and were unlucky not to do so today.[/b]

I know we didn't create a huge amount but neither did Scotland so not sure where you see them scoring tries bar the odd moment of brilliance from Thom Evans.

ah he'll play it down as much as he can, don't be surprised if he calls it the triple crown decider.

;) It is what it is. No more, no less. Everything is normal, everyone is calm.

Can you stay balanced in the threader-header for the MS?!

And a separate thread needed for the ref, just to keep the pressure on these SH knobjobs. BOD should sue for that decision over his footwork in the ruck. Holy f***ing slam.

Exclusive access, maximum clout.

Thought BOD was weak on that one - should have called Kaplown to order, put the pressure on. Thinking Johnson c.2003.

Poor Jones is at his deluded best this morning, apparently it was Tommy Bowe who made the covering tackle on Godman yesterday. Good man

If we'd got the try before half time then we would have had every chance to win, the second half was just the same old rubbish. Ireland played good keepball and took full control in the second half.

Thought we played well in the first half, big runners hitting it up but in the second half it was just rubbish.

It was a case of hanging in there in the first half and but for some last ditch tackles Scotland would have been out of sight.

Fair play to Kidney though for turning things round at the break.

Good second half from Ireland yesterday, can't see anything other than an Ireland (well, maybe a France) championship now. Wales won't put 13 point past Ireland (unless they play like they did v England, in which case, its a possibility).

Bring on the triple crown, and if Ireland do win in Cardiff, I certainly won't begrudge them a Grand Slam after their fantastic efforts over the past few years where they deserved more.

Shut up. You're making me nervous.

We all know deep down they are going to f*** it up in Cardiff so lets not pretend any different!

Ahhh Cardiff. Where only one Irish international team has lost since 1983 and where the bulk of the Irish team have won two of the last three Heineken Cups. I think Ireland will be alright next week. Why fear Wales? After all, they lost to this French team who are currently being pummelled by England!

True we've nothing to fear in Cardiff and I think the pressure of getting to the final game has been greater than actually winning the grand slam.

Damn Brian O'Driscoll. His last ditch tackle on Godman before half time won them the match. They stepped up a gear in the second half which Scotland couldn't match and they deserved the win. Don't think we'll lose to you though. Could be a double Triple Crown Wales - Championship Ireland celebration, even though it would be devastating for Ireland to come so close again... Can't wait.
