Oh come off it! Firstly, there is a comprehensive program run by the WWE to stamp out drug abuse in its roster of wrestlers! The WWE Wellness program does not promote drugs. Period. End of story. William Regal is the most recent member to be suspended for violations in the Wellness program and the program has actually saved the life of one member of the WWE Roster, MVP who was diagnosed with a rare heart condition which could have proved fatal. And before you ask, no, it wasn't brought on by steroid abuse. It is known as Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome.
Secondly, drug abuse is far more prevalent in Athletics, the Tour de France...what kind of message has the last four or five Tours de France sent to children across the world? A far worse one than that of one or two wrestlers flouting the rules and paying the price for it.
When you see guys like Rey Mysterio and Matt Hardy as well as basically anyone from Luche Libre in Mexico and from some of the major Japanese Wrestling promotions, you have to admire the athleticism, the drive and the death defying nature of their work. They are athletes who are proud of what they do and how they do it. Hall of Famer Bret "the Hitman" Hart once said that he took pride in never actually injuring any one of his opponents during his long career. And guess what? He's a national hero in Canada.
So in closing ladies and gents, we all enjoy Wrestling and we all know that nobody ever uses the Other Sports thread...so lets make it more active. Lets talk RAW and SMACKDOWN and TNA iMPACT!
