Saracens have completed their 2010/11 squad with the signings of backline player Nils Mordt and loosehead prop Matt Parr. <!-- CACHE premier/ENG-5fce65bb270752fa10c3f72b97eb5f42-5172b7d6d11d2be8ad3958ac8b0673f3.php 2010-05-31 12:00:48 -->

Mordt, 26, draws on a wealth of experience with London Irish, Northampton Saints, Harlequins, England Saxons and England Sevens, and is looking forward to playing the best rugby of his career at Saracens.

"I believe it might have been said before," said Mordt, nephew of Springbok legend Ray Mordt, "but there is something special happening at Saracens, and I want to be part of it."

Director of Rugby Brendan Venter said: "I have known Nils for some time, and he has great hands and fantastic natural ability. He's also an outstanding character, and I'm sure he will thrive in our environment."

Parr, 27, joins the north London club from Nottingham, for whom he has excelled in the Championship. He has played for Sale Sharks and Leicester Tigers, and believes Saracens will be the club where he will fulfil his unquestioned potential.

Parr said: "Petrus du Plessis moved from Nottingham to Saracens a couple of months ago, and has done really well, so I'm looking forward to following the same path. Anybody who has watched Saracens over the past few months can see there is something happening at the club... and, you know what, it's special."

Venter added: "Matt has been highly recommended to us, not least by his front row teammate Petrus, and we are confident we have found another gem in the Championship. We are not a club that trawls the who's who of world rugby - we look for players with talent and character, and that's exactly what we have signed in Matt."

Both players will report back for pre-season training with the rest of the squad on July 5, 2010.

Meh x 2 if we're being honest. Mordt is okayish and God only knows about Parr.

Cheap squad players, possibly to cover for more high profile exits as we worry more and more about our salary cap.

Do SA_racens have a pathetic PR department or are they just taking the **** at this stage with all the "something special" quotes?!

When interviewed about incoming players and Noah Cato, Ed Griffiths, CEO of Sarries, had this to say:
It is amazing how all arriving players sense there is something special happening at Saracens.
Noah is certainly staying.

Just...wow...

Seems like a waste of cash to me. Mordt has been less than amazing, and I honestly can't see him getting a start. Pretty much the same for Parr.
How the hell can Sarries stay under the salary cap at this rate? They seem to be signing everything.

Have they all been given frontal lobotomies as well as season contracts?

Never heard of either of them therefore they musn't be worth my recognition.

n=12
Saracens < Σ f(x)
n=1
where x represents GP teams. x ≠ Saracens

Cripes! Its almost as if all this "something special" business has been a running gag for most of the season...oh wait it has! :D

The whole "something special" thing is even more funny when you see pundits and other fans take it all waaay too seriously and try and look "between the lines" to find some kind of deeper meaning into why they're all saying the same thing XD

Also considering that Saracens are seeing 10 players leave this season alone as well as losing big names in the 2008/2009 and this season just gone such as Wikus Van Heerden and Chris Jack then its pretty easy to see how they're staying within their salary cap. The way some people are banging on it seems like we have a squad of 60 odd superstars all costing over £500,000 each!

I was going to make a "Saracens are all South Africans" joke, but then thought not to be so cruel when Prez is in a mood ;)

Yeah, don't go saying nasty things about them. All the names you may get called. "Amish" or "April fool" for example...
