San Francisco is set to be the first city in the US to require mobile phone retailers to post radiation levels next to handsets they sell.

The board of supervisors, or council, voted 10-1 to approve the measure, with final approval expected next week.

"This is about helping people make informed choices," said the law's chief sponsor, Supervisor Sophie Maxwell.

The mobile phone industry said studies showed cell phone radiation was not harmful to people.

It's absolute nonsense this. There's no evidence whatsoever to suggest it causes harm. None at all.

Its just scaremongering by people who don't understand them. According to them Mobiles are sticks of Uranium with an LCD screen

I had to do an essay and presentation on this last year and was really surprised to find that there's no evidence about it harming people at all. It was such a big deal when phones started getting bigger (i remember Richard Branson bought every single Virgin emplyee a headset to avoid radiation) but it's all just hogwash.

There is another article on the BBC that says there is no proof to it.

That article was recent enough I seem to remember. I've been around phones since 1999, there's sod all wrong with me, I've had 2 spells as a mobile phone salesman as well and there's just no harm in using them whatsoever. The iPhone does get warm with extended use though, I have noticed that.
