Sadie heading for Bulls exit

According to SuperSport the Bulls management have given the former Stormers midfielder permission to explore his options ahead of his possible departure from the three-time Super Rugby champions.

God, remember the hype at the start of the season?
Felt bad for the lad, with his injuries and such, though.

It's actually an unexpected move, with Meisiekind leaving. Sadie should have a chance to crack the line-up, but if he wants to move, it's his choice of course. The Lions can use a good center.

Here we go. The start of the Bulls hit and miss scouting.

With 5 of the top centers already there and the Bulls signing more I think he expects not much game time. Either that or the Pretoria zoo is not entertaining him anymore when there is no rugby in Pretoria

It was bound to happen. With so many young 'stars' (we really shouldn't build these lads up so much) one or two of them were always going to get disillusioned. Just hope he (and the 2 others that are bound to realize that only so many will get the chance to actually play) move around in SA rather than Ireland/Scotland and build their careers patiently. With the long S15 season they'll get their chances just like Sadie did last year here in the Cape.

Cheetahs would be a good move for him. Their expansive style of rugby would suit him and he would get regular rugby.

Andries Strauss
Phillipus Albertus Borman Snyman haha classic Freestate name there
Barry Geel
Wilmaure Louw
Robert Ebersohn
Matthew Rosslee
Jean Stemmet

Those are the FS center choices.

Isn't this a bit of his own doing?

he only had one good game all season for the Bulls, got injured, and never really played up to expectations. I think his morale is the thing that could be the reason. Everyone last year talked him up as the next 13 for the Boks. With him not getting a first choice spot last year at the Stormers he came to the Bulls with the departure of Jaco Pretorius. Yet he didn't make the cut, even with the Bulls newer expansive style of play.

not to shove my nose into something that I probably will get neg repped for, but is going back to the Stormers a viable option for him?? JDJ and JDV are the chosen centre pair for them now, he wouldn't get more playing time there than at the Bulls, so I think it's either the Cheetahs or Lions for him...

If he goes that is...

Nel has been poached by the Scots.

Not a bad squad that although you can already take out Juan Smith who will by default be injured. They havn't lost a whole lot of players yet and got Sarel and Sadie in. I'd play Sarel at 11 and Sadie to alternate with Ebersohn and Strauss btween 12 and 13 though I see him primarily as a playmaking 13 rather than a hardnosed 12 like Strauss or an elusive speedster 13 like Ebersohn. IE I see him as an impoverished man's Conrad Smith and hope he steps up in time.

Ebersohn is still young and getting better and better. But some of those will probably leave as its the squad so far. I like le Roux as well. I think he is highly underrated.

I highly rate le Roux as well. That said a lot of backline players look good at the Cheetahs with the pace and width they give the ball and look kinda ordinary elsewhere where the style is moer conservative. Is he contracted to the Cheetahs though? I heard somewhere that he is still with Boland. If so I'm sure WP will be knocking on his door after S15 has concluded. Maybe not as what makes him special will be wasted here.

He signed with the Cheetahs. Good to see Sarel back. Just hope Goosen can stay fit as he is known his fearless approach and got a concussion vs the Lions then the injury vs the Highlanders.

yoh!!!
he will fit in @ the sharks, cheetahs or lions... teams that actually play a running game... i'm glad he left the stormers, he is too attacking for a defensive team like that, same with JJ...

Pity about Le Roux... for us not him.

Yeah, it'd be interesting to see how Super Sarel goes next year. Hope the bad stint in Ausland didn't rob him of his confidence. His probably just better suited for the game the Cheetahs play. With Piet van Zyl there I wouldn't be surprsed if we saw Pretorius mostly on the wing where he played some good attacking rugby; he gets involved a lot more from wing.

I say a prayer each night that Goosen gets well and stays well. He's certainly a prospect to be the best all-round 10 in SA.. ever. But like you said, he maybe should learn to pick his place & time better for the sake of not getting injured constantly but that daring is why I love him.
