S14 2010 expectations

I expect the Canes to have some sort of controversy surrounding 2 or 3 of their games because of the ref. Things like the opposition doing a quick throw in with another ball leading to a try or the ref giving out 6 cards in 1 game or maybe the rules will change yet again or 1 of our players might get suspended for 8 weeks for a verbal altercation with the ref when some players get 1 or 2 weeks for red card incidents who knows what this competition will come up with.

Now that I've had my little moan I'll say pretty much what most people are thinking probably the Crusaders, Bulls, Sharks, Hurricanes, Chiefs, Warratahs or Brumbies to make the top 4.

I also expect some off field antics to interfere during the middle of the season.

I think Gio Aplon should play at 15. Joe Petersen is horrible. I would even go as far as saying Zane Kirchner is better than him. Otherwise, we could be looking at a very impressive centre combination in de Jongh and Fourie. With Habana there as well, the Stormers could finally start scoring some tries in the Suoer14! Yay! Pity that Chavhanga is leaving thanks to the Stormers management not letting fattalavuki go...

I think either the Bulls, Chiefs, Hurricanes, Crusaders, Highlanders, Waratahs, Reds, Brumbies, Western Force, Cheetahs, Blues, Lions, Sharks, Stormers will win.

My Money would go on the Lions... they are already six years into their four year plan! (good thing i'm in China and can't actually place a bet!)

Well I hope one of those underdog teams will do some magic this season.
Cheetahs or Highlanders.

Actually mate, even though they have lost Barnes, I see the Reds as one of the top threats next season...they will be the top Aussie team (put your $$$ on it ;) )

If our key players can remain injury free for an entire season, then we definitely would be in the final 4.

They say that every year.

Yesterday I found an old rugby magazine from January 09, so before the start of the previous season. And all those famous NZ, AUS, SA rugby connoisseurs giving their top 5. Most of them were completely wrong with their prognostics. Like in every sport every fan has huge expectations of his/her team. But it are those little details/ Intangibles that can decide a game in the last couple of minutes. The difference between victory, loss or a draw. On paper it’s easy to say which teams will be successful and which team which will need to fight every game they play. But as mentioned above, it all depends on injuries and maybe even good luck.

Any way Really looking forward to the new season ☺

I will kill someone if Crusaders win again.

You better start sharpening your killin' knife now then. I cant see a single weakness in their team. Their bench players would walk in to the other teams. Dicks.

At the very least the Bulls are turning into the SA version of the Crusaders, so it shouldn't be such an easy task for the saders anymore.

Agreed. They were very very good this year. I think opponents get really depressed when they arrive at Loftus...

I got depressed watching them at the Wellington Westpac Stadium when the ref gave them 2 yellows and us 2 yellows and a red card. Awesome team thou but wouldn't they lose alot with Habana going to Stormers?

The bulls have an amazing academy system, they produce lots of talent, they should be covered.

Habana will be a loss obviously, but it's not like they're going to fall apart.

S14 is too predictable. Same teams winning it every year and same teams at the bottom.
Yeah that must suck for a Reds fan. But as a Hurricanes fan its means for years the Hurricanes have been in the hunt until the last two weeks of course.

Yep that or we get into a final against Crusaders and try to tire them out by letting them score 4-5 trys in the first half than try and make a brave comeback or was that the Anz Cup. Oh no that's right it's both competitions.

I think

Bulls
Crusaders
Stormers

then fourth place will be either

Sharks, Waratahs, Cheetahs or Chiefs.

Bulls will still be on a high from last season thrashing of the Chiefs in the final, and they've only lost Habana, so they'll still be strong. When Bakkies comes back, they'll hit top form, and just clinch number one. Hope Morne slots another four drop goals! More lineout dominance :)

Crusaders, even with McCaw and Carter will still fall behind the Bulls through a slump in the mid season to finish second. I'd bet Morne Steyn lands more kicks than DC this year.

Stormers,THEY HAVE THE TEAM TO WIN! But for some reason they never switch on. With Habana and Fourie in their new Stormers colours, they will make it third.

Fourth place is always the biggest tussle. The Sharks and Waratahs always seem to be fighting for it. Sharks, perhaps weakened by the loss of Steyn and now Hernandez will probably nab fifth, but can pull fourth if they are lucky with Waratah losses. Same for the Tahs, but should have better luck looking at Sharks losing in the late rounds as they did last year. :(

Chiefs, can't count them out anymore after last year, but that was ONE year. So I wont be too surprised if they drop out.

And the Cheetahs. I believe that they have been the BEST South African team in the last couple of years, but for some reason, it looks like they ONLY play against the South African teams. A win against the any South African team wouldn't be much of an upset after the Currie Cup, and it seems as if the Cheetahs are still stuck in Currie Cup mode when it comes to S14. Usually a bad travelling team, but if they switch on and realise that they can win this, we might see their status as Wooden Spoon hopefuls disappear. Bring Louis Strydom in a few games, and youll be all set for the second Currie Cup in the Super 15

The Force, maybe sixth? But with some luck, and Andre Pretorius in their team, MIGHT snab out fourth through a coule of bonus points.

I don't know much about the Aussies, but after last year, you can't expect too much from them? Waratahs their best hope, but they looked fairly average last year as well.

Good Luck to all the teams this year :)

I think half the away teams sometimes fail because they can't breathe up there?
with the altitude and all? :)
