[RWC2023] Wales vs Australia (24/09/2023)

Actually just noticed Domachowksi in over Smith. Shame, Smith offers more and let's be honest it would have been much more comfortable ending if we didn't get the stupid yellow card at that point.

Hilarious that EJ drops Carter for the big one. That was his man. At least he is showing some modesty and flexibility in dropping him. A more headstrong person would have backed Carter all the way to the airport.

I think Wales will walk this if Donaldson isn't a big step up on Carter. But the Aussies are so volatile that anything could happen. So with minimal confidence...

Wales 27 - 19 Australia

(For the sake of Wales missing out on autoqualification I am hoping for 8-0 to the Aussies).

Is 8-0 enough for Aus to be in control?

Aus getting the TBP to Wales 0 definately is, but I dont think an 8 point win without it is?

Maybe I'm wrong

Well, predicting 4 tries for Australia just didn't seem feasible. But then neither does Georgia winning out with 2x winning BPs to have Wales finish 4th.

I don't think any Aussie win puts anyone in control. If they win all the top three will be aiming for 15 to 16 points. From what I read 16 should pretty much guarantee a QF.

I think 5-0 pretty much puts Aus in the driving seat, needing to beat Portugal 5-0 to qualify.

Wales winning, or getting a 4-1 or 5-2 pretty much guarantees Wales through doesnt it?

My head hurts thinking about it, I'll worry about it Monday hahahaha

I'd say that Smith is the better scrummager at the moment but think Corey is better in terms of carries, they are fairly equal on defence. Corey is letting his emotions get the better of him in a red shirt, he needs a run of games at this level and he'll come good.

Hes had a very unfortunate / horror start for Wales, that's for sure. Hes been thrown in to a world cup, off the back of what 2 caps sacrificed to England and SA.

I'm a big fan of his and Asserati at club level, they have deservedly ousted Carre and Lewis at Cardiff.

He must be showing form in training though, as Gatland keeps using him over more experienced options. I hope he gets some meaningful time to show what he can do, because hes decent around the park

We know the potential Corey has, I think he's come on and just wants to give his everything and made some very silly mistakes, I don't think it's a reflection of his ability to step up yet, he needs a run and I'm glad Gats is giving it to him. Big 20 minutes for him when he comes on tomorrow.

So apparently EJ interviewed for the Japan job before the first warm-up game against France.

I keep wondering how Australian rugby could possibly get any lower and they just keep finding new ways.

Thos cant be true?!?!?!

**** off. Don't want England in a quarter final even though I know they're **** and there for the taking.
Watching Argentina again, I think they are a pale version of their best currently. They may grow further into this tournament, but I want them in the quarter!!!

Let Fiji play England!

Yup just read that.

TBH I'm sick of the guy. Act like a cocky smart arse when you're winning. When you've lost 6 on the trot, smartare comments make you look like a dick. Sooner he's gone the better,

So he gets binned off the England job, gets a huge deal with aus and could then get binned off again for another position? He must be raking it in throughout contact break payments, unless the Aussies did what we didn't and had a performance clause in there.

Wales should win this one. If Skelton and Tupou were fit I'd be more inclined to think Aus could do something. I'd argue Fiji played better against Wales than Aus.

Eddie Jones is mental. On paper pre squad selection with everyone fit Aus first XV looked good, but then he left some experienced players out for reasons no one but Eddie can fathom. There surely wasn't anything to loose to take Cooper and Hopper, Ben Donaldson doesn't even get selected by his super rugby club.
