[RWC2019][Pool A] Round 2 - Japan vs. Ireland (28/09/2019)

Dylan Fawsitt (USA backup hooker) also went there. Throw in Conway and Jordi Murphy as well as Joey Carbery (kinda) and there's a lot of Blackrock in world rugby.

Funny cause I'm pretty sure that from the actual Leinster senior squad I think only Ringrose went there.

Thompson didn't go to the school itself. He's a New Zealander but played for Blackrock Club.

Also Doris and Keenan are both in the senior squad and went to the school.

18 months ago he was Jack Carthorse, now he's leading Ireland in what is a big game, picked ahead of golden child Carberry no less, and there is not a voice of dissent!
In fairness it's only because Carbery is coming off an injury but agree it's a great turnaround for him, no one would have ever guessed he'd be starting this game even 12 months ago!

Stradfuck bring shame to Blackrock College, which is impressive because they're a shameful institution.
Apparently if you turn on the shower in the Stradcuck clubhouse **** comes out. They may have been overtaken by Michael's for reps but they're still the 'golden' boys of Leinster rugby.

Rumours are Conan will know Sunday if he coming home. Schmidt eager to have replacement out to play vs Russia if needed. I'd expect Jordi to be pulled from Ulster game maybe or only play 40mins

Looks like what I predicted is true. Jordi could be on a flight tomorrow
Same thing happened with Addison and look how that went, as soon as there was any kind of doubt about Conan Jordi wasn't going to be allowed within a mile of a rugby pitch. Too early to be jumping to conclusions.

If Conan is out then it's a massive blow, Stander will basically have to play every minute of the knockouts if we want to have any kind of chance, and it leaves us with more or less no option for rotation in the backrow.

Ordinarily I'd say Ireland by around 27. But I'll engage in more cod-psychology (cue a fish reclining on a couch). In the Russia match I saw parallels to when the football world cup was co-hosted in Japan. The fans were so excited at even incidental things that I think it put players off.

Add in my scepticism about the selection and I fear this could be a little embarrassing. I think Ireland have enough sense to back off after securing a BP, but still

Ireland by 33 (with 25+ of that being in the first half)

I expect is to win comfortably but doubt it'll be too embarrassing, we don't really have the capacity (or in this case probably the will) to keep piling on the scores against decent opposition when the games run. Russia isn't long away after this game so if it's over as a contest we won't waste energy scoring unnecessary points.

Watch Japan demolish us after I say this.

What an awesome atmosphere!
More respect for the Japanese people every day

Japan getting through and breaking the Irish defensive line a lot in open play early on.

Oh man. Heartbreaking for Japan. They could have been 10-0 up.

Bit of a let off for Ireland. They were asleep for the first few minutes.
