What do you guys think? Will he perform like he used to or will it be a bit of an anti-climax? I can't wait to watch the game. At his best, he is second only to the great Lomu. The speed of Habana and the strength of Spies. He's like a super-human. I'd assume he's not as quick as he used to be all those moons ago, but he'll still be waaaay above average. For anyone who hasn't seen this guy, PLEASE type in "Rupeni Caucau" on youtube. He is an absolute animal with ball in hand.

Rupeni is playing out of position against two form players. He plays for Agen in France, so nothing like the Super14. The Wallabies will watch him, but I can't expect him to be anything like he was back in the day.

Must say it is unlikely. 30 years old now. No one is as quick when they're 30 as hey were when they were 25

Apparently Jason Robinson is still as quick as he ever was, when he took over at Sale Sharks he was faster than any of the players

You find a lot of wingers who don't **** about building up muscle *coughBenCohencough* keep their pace.

I'm sure Caucau would have keep his pace too - if he hadn't spend the last 6-7 years building his gut.

Denis Hickie said he was faster when he retired than he had ever been before. Same is probably true for Williams, CauCau isn't exactly as well conditioned as those two though is he?

I really do look forward to seeing Rupeni playing at 12 at the weekend.

Saw a video of him playing 13 for Agen and he looked like he was just about as intelligent as ever, and could still beat a player one on one but I don't see him lasting 80 haha

Well the verdict is in and he was ****. Wasn't heaps slow but definately miles off the Cau Cau of old. He was also very lazy tonight, not really trying to get involved. Not supprising really when you look at his gut...

I wouldn't say ****,
He had a few good runs, and his tackling was solid, but i agree he seemed a bit lazy,
The commentators said he dropped 7kg in training for that match, so if he keeps it up he should be back to his old self in time for the new season :p

If he was playing 13 for any other team that had a good 9 + 10 and a proper backline gameplan he would have seemed much better imo, they just didn't seem to be able to provide him with any space or decent ball.

My goodness he's gotten fat. He looks like a prop. As expected, his return was an anti-climax. I'd do anything to see him play like the old Caucau. He's still a great defender. He tackled very well today.

The guy didn't really get any opportunities on attack. Fiji had to defend all day and as you said he did that very well.
If you put him in a side that is getting good ball he will still be a world class attacker.
