In the latest rugby world rankings Wales have dropped to 6th. This puts a lot of pressure on the Autumn tests, we HAVE to win 3/4 to have a chance of getting into the top 4 for the draw of the 2015 world cup. This still seems very early to me to determine the seeds though.

I don't want to see much of an experimental team in any game, maybe a couple of changes for the Samoa game but only 2 or 3.

Only .83 between 4th and 6th though. I guess that draw by England gave them a little nudge up!

1 (1) New Zealand 91.43
2 (2) Australia 87.05
3 (3) South Africa 84.87
4 (5) England 83.09
5 (7) France 83.03
6 (4) Wales 82.26
7 (8) Ireland 79.85
8 (6) Argentina 79.25
9 (10) Scotland 77.97
10 (9) Samoa 76.23

would of thort wales wer higher than england like

Switch Aus and Springboks round and that's spot on (for my opinion of sides, that is :) - though maybe get Samoa and Scotland a bit closer, and England and France level, though they basically are as is).

South Africa deserve to be third. They've been complete rat shiyte that whole series. Seeing Alberts in action was about the only shining light.

I suppose also, if you want to be technical about it, SA drew with England while the Wallabies won (narrowly) all of theirs. I watched that third test and jeepers. Most underwhelming thing I've seen in international rugby in awhile. It's like the All Blacks had been playing with one intensity, and I'm not sure what planet South Africa is even on.

'Spose also if Argentina manage to tip a couple of teams up (South Africa and Australia in the Argies backyard?) they could slip ahead of Ireland? Although it's their first year and from what I understand, some top players won't be present.

Really? I had heard some clubs won't release some of the better Argie players. Which would make sense as it has happened before.

No, only one won´t play and he is 35 (Felipe Contepomi).

24 players have been rested - did not play vs Italy or France in June. They have already been named in the squad for TRC. 6 others will join them, to be named shortly. Los Pumas are to go to Pensacola, Florida for an intensive physical training week to get ready.

It remains to be seen whether or not the team will win games but it will be Argentina´ top side with only Contepomi missing. I think that Argentina will be tough for all opposition at home. The rankings are such that where Argentina rank now compared to the others means that Los Pumas can´t really fall but can really go up a lot. Home wins could see Argentina in 4th.

BTW.. Smartcooky, if you are reading.. This is what shitty reporting like Mark Hinton does.

Ah right, thanks for clearing that up. I'm pleased about that actually. Not too sure how they'll travel, but at home Argentina could be a threat. Bit of a hiccup over the weekend? France had quite a game.

Oh right, well that is a very different story then. Admittedly I don't really follow Argentina rugby too closely (I'm sure thats evident, haha) but I do hope they do well. I remember 2006, the All Blacks, although not our best side, should have beaten the Argies a lot more comfortably than we did. Almost upset of the century. Against the Boks and Wallabies, I'll have no trouble cheering them on. Look forward to learning more about each player too.

What in your opinion makes you think France are better than Wales given France's underwhelming performances in 2012?

No idea, just how it is when I think of it in my head.
To be fair you could say why should Wales be higher when they haven't beaten a top 3 side in however long (2008 vs Australia, I think?)

Hey, if you come 5th don't you end up in a pool with 4th place anyway? Or do they shuffle it up?

To be fair you could say why should France be higher when they have lost to Italy, Tonga and Argentina reserves over the past year.

true, but the rankings are calculated over two years (i think) and less than a year ago they made it too the world cup final

I still think if Samoa rugby admin had the right organisation they'd be world beaters. At least certainly be ranked higher than Scotland.

BLoody excited for the Argies! Probably my 2nd favourite team to support outside of the All Blacks. :D

think ireland could have done with lining up Australia instead of just having the 2 games,

You might be thinking of the Rugby League world rankings.

I think i was thinking about football, the main point still stands though, they made the world cup final and as PD's very useful link explained world cup points are doubled.
