Rugby World Cup 2011 Official Game

I see the "give me my screenshot/trailer now" crowd are going to be out in force for the next few weeks. Most of the promotion of these games will have likely be in the hands of the producers and they stump up the money. I don't think they are going to waste their resources on releasing something now when they'll want to release things a little later to intensively promote during the time it really matters. Other wise, you need screenshot/trailers now, another in July and then another in late August. I'm sure diluting the impact of these things closer to release day is not what they want.

The intensive television marketing campaign for the actual Rugby World Cup hasn't started yet, is anyone complaining about that?

Who the **** would be interested in some random blob moving around ..better to have a job well done (good fully licenced and impressive ad) as opposed to something that may be counter productive and actually push people and remove interest due to lack of any licencing or big name endorsements .

I would and I'm sure others many others would too. I'm not talking about a blob moving around. I'm talking about a normal player which gives you an exact idea of how the game will look. Could be one of the Kangaroos or All Non-Whites players for instance.

Costs money and time which could be spent elsewhere, have to remove faces, kits, teams, adboards, stadium resemblance etc. Quite frankly the argument is not rubbish as you call it but a valid one.

The work you're describing won't have to take long. But you're right; why spend money on marketing which it's a proven concept after all?

Wow, you fanboys are really something.

We only demand screenshots so the TRF Fanboy Crowd can do what they do best: defend HB in every step along the way no matter what. Gheez, you'd still defend them if they sold you a brick wrapped in paper saying 'Rugby World Cup 2011 Videogame'.

1. The Kangaroo's are the international rugby league side, so I'm pretty sure if Australia are not officially in as appears could be the case, they will not have that as a name.

2. It is not easy and quick work to remove player faces, the advertising hoardings, make a generic ground that is not licensed and change the uniform to something completely unofficial. After they've done all that they'd have to ask the publisher (a huge part of financing) if they are okay with releasing a completely unofficial and unlicensed, therefore somewhat unrelated screenshot or trailer to the public. That is not what any company does in relation to promotions.

3. Your labelling of some of us as fanboys is pretty silly really. I am myself perhaps the most cynical and skeptical mod/admin in relation to the ability of either of these games to live up to the hopes and expectations of their target audience. Without having anywhere near the budget of a Fifa, Madden or 2K sports ***le and the competition for licenses from a competing ***le at the same time, it will be very difficult to make a top quality game.

So really the only reason to call people "Fanboys" is to make you feel that you can with one broad comment invalidate views which are opposed to yours. That's what little children do, attack the person rather than the argument or discussion point. I'm sure you can do better. :)

If that is the case, i recommended we substitute the name "Wallabies", for the next most famous Australian marsupial, the "Drop Bears".

Come on HB.. Release a Charlie Sheen Player Model! Have him run across the field shouting "Malibu Messiah" with arms waving around.. Please.

Ah the insults fly ... quality argument.

The work I describe can take a long process. Id like to point out to you that a few years back TRF got the chance to visit Codemasters HQ to see the then up and coming cricket game that was coming out.

Whilst there myself and TRF_Saints got the chance to see how the game was made and a sort of sneak peak of the new F1 game that was coming out (F1 2010). Now these guys had told us for both games putting screenshots out was a long and winding issue that some have no idea about. Ill take the F1 example. For them to even produce a screenshot of the game they had to do the following:

1. Ensure every screenshot includes all 12 F1 teams
2. All the right sponsors on the car were correct and had agreed for their sponsor logo to appear on the screenshot. If one did not then the screenshot could not go out.
3. Ensure that all the F1 teams were happy with the screenshot. If a team was unhappy then the shot could not go out.
4. All the correct adboards in the stadium were correct and had been given permission to be used by the sponsor.
5. The race track used have to be given permission from the track owners.
6. Once all that was done F1 had to sign each shot off, if they did not like it or think it was not appropriate then they would have to start again.

The process explained is much more complicated and is simply not a one day thing, it takes time and resources. If one thing was not correct then Codemasters would have to start again. It was a process that was explained to us and that Codemasters had told us had delayed screenshots coming out and that the same would be true for most sports games because of branding / sponsorship issues. One of the lads who came with us asked why could they simply not make a basic unrecognizable track, no sponsors on the cars etc job to which Codemasters said it would be more hassle than its worth and cost money and resources to do so. Considering that HB is not the team that produces the screenshots because its not the publisher ... 505 is, you might want to think again before you call people so called 'TRF HB fanboys' because in reality 505 games are the people who publish the screenshots and not HB. It is this why I can understand the difficulty about screenshots / trailers not being released.

Arrogance and being a general tool about it Nielsch is not the best way around the topic im afraid.

To be honest this "Rugby Challenge" Game that has sprung up seems to have everything that everyone is asking for!

I want a clubs mode god damn it!
World Cup mode is fine but once you have won it a few times its over. (You know the games lost its lifespan when you start trying to win the world cup with Japan!).
I'd rather buy a game that was based on clubs mode then on the world cup (which I thought it was going to with it being called rugby 2012)

Why cant they just make a rugby game like fifa 11? That **** would rule!

Manager mode, different leagues and clubs for most countries, a custom team and player mode and even a pro mode would be awesome!
Like fifa 11 a low camera angle and you just control that one player, that would be the ***s.

But instead it sounds like we just have a world cup mode, which to be honest i am a bit gutted about.

Getting more and more excited about Rugby Challenge to be honest, mainly due to their website. A marketing tool RWC2011 is definitely lacking. But if you say something about that, the fanboys on this forum will haunt you down for being "too demanding" and "impatient".

Well then go appreciate the game over on that forum and quit your incessant whining over here..if you are so certain its going to be **** then stop bothering maybe ?

RWC11 need to get a crack on with information I'm sure they are losing alot of peoples faith
I know that I've lost alot of interest in it , Rugby Challenge looks better every day

Game looks good I just wanna know whats happening with the licenses before I lose all hope , even though I'm an Ireland fan (hence the name) I would actully like to beat the real wallabies so I can rub it in my friends face!

There we have a nice moderate and reasonable way to complain about info. :) The mods here are not against people taking issue with it or expressing their opinions, just the ranting tone and language of others.

The licensing for both games is something that it's highly unlikely either dev team will get complete coverage of. I think it'd be even better to hear that an editor is in there as is the case for Rugby Challenge. Then aside from the faces and jerseys being a little off you'd still be playing against the right names. Which is a lot better than no editor and ridiculous names stuck in there. Mind you I don't know what's unlicensed in RWC2011, we still have to wait and see what will come out information-wise. As I've said a little earlier in the thread, I'd imagine that as we slip closer to the last 8 weeks prior to the world cup we'll no doubt have plenty of information.

There's no two ways about it, the days of plenty more information are gradually getting closer. :)

They said more info in the coming weeks around a month ago. RC has released info at a good rate without showing us to much

I dunno why you guys are getting worked up. Now, I'm not really interested in all of this gaming stuff, but a few screenshots isn't going to make the game come out all that quicker. If they can't release them it's for licencing reasons, not because they aren't where they need to be yet. Otherwise they wouldn't have the August release date.

Anyway, it's still 3 months away. That's far too early to be launching your advertising campaign. Now stop cluttering thee place up with the same bloody question every five minutes.

No bother and thanks for clearing that up :)

Where did I say it's gonna be ****? Would you please point that out to me in a quote?

I'm just saying they could do more to win and keep people's interest, for instance through a regularly updated website. The amount of abuse you get from people like you for voicing that opinion is just really staggering and quite frankly pathetic to say the least. And really, you need swear words to make your point come across? How old are you sonny?
