Rugby breakaway league coming.

I think he nails it.

Champions cup has a fair share of the world's best players but it wouldn't be the same with no French pep bands, ulster singing, having to play at sale in December, or Leinster choking away a ***le.

What rugby needs to learn is that there is an appetite for best on best rugby. Make the champions cup more selective and it will return to being the best competition on earth.

When we win this year the tournament will have nothing left.

So frustrating, because it's so easy to do. It just means that (owners of) teams who aren't good enough to put up a decent challenge, accepting that they're not good enough, and having to work hard to get there.

It's been said so many times:
Champions Cup should be teams challenging to be the champions of their league - the elite clubs.
European cup should be teams from Europe.

Champ Cup: 4 pools of 4.
6 T14 teams
5 URC teams (excepting Saffers)
4 Prem teams
Previous year's Challenge Cup winners.

Challenge Cup for the next 4, 6, 5 and 1
European Plate for the rest + Georgians, Romanians, Spanish, Portugese etc.

ETA: Of course, if we absolutely HAVE to pretend that the Southern-most part of the continent of Africa is actually a part of Europe after all, then 6URC and 5T14 teams; or 5 form each, and both finalists of the Challenge Cup
