Repamania

Plus, has much really been done to warrant alot of rep giving, posts I have noticed are lost in the heavy amount of topics and sub forums, so the cream of posting is hard to find. Rugby 06 is a bit stale, so patches, kits and rosters. A big source of rep, has gone.

I reckon if the rep points were used wisely (both neg and positve) you'd be able to find the posts that matters by looking at the respected posters that matter, if that makes sense. Soon the ones on massive neg reps will either start and improve their posts because they will realise no one's reading what they have to say or they'll stop posting altogether. Either way those interested in reading proper posts wins

Where there's so much spamming and crap posts the answer is simple - neg rep the person for it, those of us interested in reading the creams of posts as you put it will thank you for it, or REP you for it ;)

What in the world happened here?!

Did the rep system really fall into the hands of novelty?

Not really. It just became like a capitalist system. the rich got richer and the poor are unable to compete, lol. Just kidding, it's not like that at all. Is it?

i was wondering what this damn thread was when i saw the ***le! i knew my eyes were playing trix on me. i was seeing RAPEmania.. what da?!?!

i find it a bit of a novalty when you get 4 people reping you for one post. surely one good post gets one rep point. yes you can get some scaling when you get something like a patch, but i think that if you are repping someone for a post, and someone wants to give the same rep to the same post it should just be the comment given, and not the rep point if you know what i mean.

or else you end up getting some ****** doing a parody of who songs and getting 4 rep points for it.

Can anyone post the top 20 people with the most rep? i'm curious to see who would make that list.

Well, it'd mostly be mods and admin and we as a group need to be seen as giving more than we get. *Edit* - I had a look and mods and admin are very good at giving out +rep.

I agree with sambad. Sometimes I'll see a member with high rep points acting like a tosser, and when I check his rep count out of curiousity, I'll see most of his rep came from posting one pic of a hot babe on some thread.

But no system is flawless.

I think the rep system works really well most times. I think the mod team of TRF have all their bases covered. If you feel you've been targeted unfairly and your rep has suffered you can ask them to resolve the whole mess.

It's all up to the individual really, and how he/she decides to use it. The examples are endless.

If you stick around long enough you see who are the REAL rugby smart guys anyway.

I wouldnt say I act like a tosser, a ****** maybe, but tosser doesn't really suit me. :)

They can't have been talking about you. Your babes are all in your sig and your reps not that high.

Although you do seem like the kind of guy who could suggest some good video clip download sites, lol.

Believe it or not I hardly download porn. I don't even posses a single dvd. Not saying that I don't watch though lol. Anyway if anyone wants a good site for d/l 'videos' or anything like movies, music, programs go to this site.

http://www.searchshared.com/

Its awesome site thats this is the only site I use when I need to d/l anything. You could even say this site is so good that I should get a rep point *hint*.

and i also dont think that -reps are given out enough. its totaly hipocritical. you can give a new poster a good rep for little effort on his part, compared to a longer serving member, but if a new member stirrs the pot, he will end up with -5 in a day from one post/topic. then you get a long serving/high reped/good member who would stir just the same, and it will slide, soley on the fact that either A) no one can be bothered or B) like the guy and dont want to say anything bad about him. i would actually like to see what would happen if you cant see your own rep.

Haha, ohhh Darkman *sigh*

I wasn't talking about you, but you seem to have a guilty conscience anyway. Anything you wanna get off your chest?

Oh and wanna comment about the newbie thing sambad was talking about.

This is, as a forum, an online community. Communities alike have unspoken rules. One of these are don't act like a top dog when you're new. This applies to many social settings, and a forum falls into that group.

Most of the neg reps newbies get are in fact from other newbies anyway.

The rep system isn't perfect but I think it's as near as we can get to it at the moment. I try and avoid neg rep if possible as it's not good for an owner to be criticising, really. Obviously there are exceptions and I will neg rep people but it's not very often. Ironically enough it's normally only for misuse of the rep system that I give neg rep. A sort of "have that" attitude, if you will.

But what I will say is that rep sometimes isn't indicative of the poster. I for example (and I am not saying I deserve more) have been running TRF for the best part of 3 years. My rep isn't even half of Charlie and Teh Mite. It doesn't bother me though. Another example is the recently returned sambad. Long standing popular member, got no rep as he was away for a bit.

There is also a bit of apathy toward giving rep out. I don't know why as I think it's much better than the post count system currently in place. All I can do is keep giving Repamania a run every 6 months.

heh, let the minions fight with the minions. the best will rise to the top. how about, newbie survivor? or the coleseium of the new.

I love giving people +reps.
I enjoy giving when they put effort into a post (my last example was an tarbh's experience wit ireland vs england at croke park. Great piece with a lot of effort put in).
I also give +rep when someone does something sincere (M to One recently put up pictures of his home town (chicago?) and he clearly showed love for where he lived and i really appreciated that.)

Most of all, if someone teaches me something (intentionally or unintentionally so) they MUST receive a +rep - because a day without learning is a day wasted.
