Will the scarlets sign a new centre or utility back to replace Regan kIng or will we just keep Gareth Maule and Jon Davies in the centres

imho i would sign a player that can play most positions in the backline includin centre on a low wage

any ideas?

Not sure they have the money to bring in anyone of a high enough standard. The money would be better used to strengthen the pack anyway, a hard nosed second-row would be the best use of money.

In the centre, they'll rely on Jon Davies, Gareth Maul, Lamont maybe, and develop the likes of Scott Williams (great prospect). It wouldn't surprise me atall to see them switch George North back to his original position of centre. A centre partership of Jon Davies 12 - 13 George North looks simply awesome if you ask me.

Where is King off to?
He has been over in Wales for quite a long time now.

thinkin about that Georgie and Jon in the centres looks like a Magners winnin partnership

As mentioned numerous time on Friday night the Scarlets average age is getting smaller seemingly game by game. As the famous saying goes "you wont win anything with kids", the Scarlets need to try to replace him with a centre still the right side of 30 and who has plemty of experience not necessarily international but certainly Premiership/ML nous.

I agree, any money we have for transfers should be spent on the pack. It's been our weakness for some time now. Lyons was a good start, but we need more experienced players like him to see out games. (i.e. the Ulster game) :wall:

I'm not too concerned about the backs to be honest because every season we seem to have a supply of young talent coming through so as long as they get game time they'll develop.

I'm not sure about George North in the centre tho, i think i prefer him on the wing because he's so hard to push into touch.

North makes a great wing. However he seems built to play centre imo. He's demonstrated the pace and power he brings to the game and imo has looked his best when brought infield to attack centre field. The only question marks is regarding his distibution skills, but that's simply because I haven't seen enough of him yet to see wheathrr it's good or not. We are severely lacking a propper 13 in Wales, he could have the position tied down if he made the switch and was successfull there. The Scarlets will also be without a propper quality 13 next season aswell, hence the thread. I get the feeling that Maul is playing to the maximum of his abilities, and there's little more to see, good regional player, never be much more.

I'm pretty sure Nigel Davies has hinted in the past that he thinks North's True future lies in the centre. So I have no doubt we'll see him there at some point. Next season seems a likely time for that to happen considering King's departure.

Centres after Regan's left:
Jon Davies (defo)
Gareth Maule (playin wel at the moment)
George North (played ther for under 18s, but i think he would struggle at mag level, he will be a world class wing in the future so i say keep him ther)
Scott Williams (apparently joinin Blues, but 2day i heard different)
Nic Reynolds (gon down hill since playin 4 seniors but startin 2 show re emergence for semi pros)

that leaves us with 3 proper centres if Scott leaves, still saying forwards recruitment scarlets fan

I have heard that Scott Williams is leaving, but I will be pleased to hear otherwise.
If they wanted a NWQ signing, McAlister would do well with them, as would Richard Kahui. (If they have the money to sign them...)

North is a wing, we need to keep him there.

I see what you mean, we would need a quality replacement for king. But if we had one or two more quality forwards it would fix our weakest area.

Does anyone know if Joe Ajuwa has played centre? He's built like one, i'd be interested to see if he could move inside because Lamont, North and Stoddart are all international wings so he could be an option there instead.

Ajuwa was terrible the other night for the Scarlets.
