Ian Humphreys is out injured and Paddy Jackson takes his place. That leaves Ulster's starting back line with an average age of 13.

Now hold on there Snoopy... just because Small Package looks like he's 9 doesn't mean he's that young... he drags it up to 15... although in terms of physical development and thinking (sometimes) its more like he's 11...

...

I've gotta say, if Ulster are going to win this, we need to bully the **** out of Ospreys' pack. Which probably won't happen.

McKinney's on the bench now. If we need to rely on McKinney and McIlroy, god help us.

Interesting career move. did he buy his way onto the team afterall?

Would be better if he did, don't rate this McIlroy.

Ulster getting whistled off the park, can't complain too much about what's he giving (although some I can't see for the life of me) but not too impressed with his consistency. Although there has been some awful finicky penalties against Ospreys too. Just can't get the field position to press forwards.

edit: to be fair, that sinbinning was way harsh as well. They're playing him better than we are... if we can just get more streetwise, this game is there for the taking, just too much experience missing from the team I think.

Some of the scrum penalties (both ways) have mystified me a bit in this one...
Ref is getting a slating by Ospreys fans over twitter from the the ones S4C have read out, find that funny considering the penalty count is something like Ospreys: 6 Ulster: 11  Though guess you could argue that an Ulster player could be in the bin considering he warned them have Kyricou's high tackle then only gave a penalty after Kyricou pulled down a maul in his own 22 literally seconds later.

Actually, I'll say my true feelings. He's a useless f**king c**t for both teams, just its going against Ulster more. Incredibly ignorant of the offside line. A lottery on forward balls.

And now he's just looking to give pennos against Ulster because he's got it in his mind to. Diack was out the way and the ball was available to play when he whistled that. This is comfortably the worst reffing performance I've seen in the Magners this season.

We're being our own worse enemies and Ospreys are being clever, they'll deserve this win if we get it, but this ref is making certain for them.

Not clever enough and some atrocious hands gave that one to Opsreys on a plate. Didn't really have to do anything for it, just keep their heads cool and keep going forwards. Well done to them.

Hope we learn from this. Hope we never see Dudley Phillips again.

At one stage they showed the penalty count and it was Ospreys 6 Ulster 22...

You could really tell that Ulster were leaderless. They were running around like headless chickens, and even if there were some mystery penalties they would have had a ridiculously high penalty count against them regardless of who the ref was. They were a bit all over the place.

I figure that some of the scrum penalties were so baffling that he actually knew what he was doing and he's so clever at the subtleties of the scrum that only he knew what was going on...we are but ignorant fool and he is a god of Scrum reffing.

the standard of reffing in the Pro12 this year has been woefull.

Oh yeah: totally deserved Victory for the Hairsprays.

I don't think its possible to get to 20+ penalties without being stupid - but its also not really possible without a ref who takes against a side and is looking for infringements.

Well done Ospreys. I'll leave it there.

Forgot about this game. I'll have to catch it tomorrow off the S4C website. Sounds like a good win for the O's. Fair play, they've had an excellent start to the season, especially considering the amount of players they've got away on international duty. Some serious strength to their squad, and it looks as though some of the youngsters are really putting their hand up. Doesn't look like the high profile players they lost are going to have much impact.

Who was the ref in this game? Doesn't sound like he was any good, like pretty much every ref I've seen in the Pro12 this season. Something needs to be done, because it's getting beyond a joke now. I generally don't have a problem with the odd mistake, after all rugby is a complicated sport and things can be missed. But the players, coaches, and fans deserve better than what they're getting. It honestly appears that the new refs coming through nowadays are nowhere near the level they were in years gone by. I thought more money was being spent on training up and coming refs is more than ever, doesn't seem to have helped.

Without wishing to sound too sour, Ospreys weren't that good. I mean, they didn't need to be, but they weren't. Dirksen looked quite good and the Ospreys scrum was generally on top, but I'd say they didn't trouble the Ulster defence that much and got cut to bits a few times before the inevitable knock-on. I'm not fearing the home game, that's for sure.

Dudley Phillips was the ref, he's actually an RFU man. I'd like to consider myself fairly balanced, and generally feel refs get a bit too much flak, but I was spitting nails at that reffing performance. Never trust a man named after a Black Country shithole.
