Boss Nigel Davies is adamant the Scarlets have what it takes to emerge from the wreckage of their early-season RaboDirect PRO12 campaign - starting against Edinburgh on Friday.
With four defeats from their opening five games the Welsh region will entertain Edinburgh on Friday night sitting just one place off the bottom of the table.
A 20-10 defeat in Italy against Treviso did nothing for morale last time out but Davies believes his side - who did the double over their Scottish rivals last term - have the strength of resolve to bounce back.
"We are not despondent, we are frustrated obviously as a group but there were some genuinely good elements to our performance against Treviso and we really feel it could have gone either way," said Davies - who received a boost this week with news that Wales and Scarlets skipper Matthew Rees is back in training.
"What I was encouraged to see was that we played with more width and our philosophy of how we want to play the game was back. It was just a couple of moments of execution again that let us down.
"We'll be keen to get back on the pitch in front our home supporters at Parc y Scarlets, knowing how vital it is that we get some points from the game against Edinburgh and get a grip back on our league position.
"There's still a lot of time to go and plenty of rugby to play in this league, so we keep our heads up and put everything into this game that we can."
Despite history being on their side Scarlets will meet an Edinburgh side buoyed by the downing of reigning champions Munster last weekend.
Having missed the Treviso match through injury wing Andy Fenby returns to the Scarlets side while second-row Aaron Shingler is also back in action after a lay-off.
Rhodri Williams gets his first start at scrum-half while No. 10 Aled Thomas retains his berth.
For Edinburgh, coach Michael Bradley has made just one change to his victorious XV from last week with prop Shaun Knight replacing Lewis Niven - who moves to the bench.
And with all-but the same personnel on the field Bradley wants to see an identical display to the one which downed the reigning champions last week.
"Beating Munster was great and the manner in which we played was very rewarding, keeping the pace of the game up and producing two fantastic tries," said Bradley.
"We also defended exceptionally well and showed a lot of physicality in attack which gave us space going forward; something we've been bringing into our game and is a key element of our plans going forward.
"It's very important that we continue that form and that approach away against Scarlets this weekend.
"Scarlets are somewhat hamstrung by their commitment to Wales, with the majority of their backline in New Zealand, so it's a good opportunity for us to perform well and go for an away win which would be very important to us and our season.
"I expect a massive challenge from the Scarlets. They'll look at us as a potential victory at home to close off this period in the RaboDirect PRO12 while we'll be looking to build on our performance and our result against Munster, so something will have to give." (official RD Pro12 website)
