RaboDirect Pro12 Round 8

Blues chucked this one away ... Munster were there for the taking.

Dismal, dismal tackling from the Blues. What is the point of Phil Davies applauding their defense, saying how it was much improved when it was directly responsible for them losing this match? It doesn't matter if every other tackle the Blues put in drove Munster back 3m, missing three simple one on one tackles is just not good enough. The fact that it is multiple players throughout the squad missing these tackles leads me to think there is something more at fault that just individual errors. A couple of them have been, but I'd guess that they are uncomfortable with the system in place which is taking their minds off actually making the tackles.

Munster were very poor tonight, yet the Blues just handed them a win at CAP on a silver platter. Unbelievable. I can only imagine what Gatland's post match interview would have been like if Wales had just had a performance like that, a swear filter would most probably need to be in place, yet Phil Davies takes this as a positive, and a step in the right direction!? I hope he says different things to the players behind closed doors.

Good performances from a good few Blues players. But even their standout performer, Robin Copeland was guilty of missing the tackle in the build-up to Munster's second try.

Just visited Munsterfans. Humorous to see them applauding Archer saying this performance proves him to be a capable tight head. Consider the opposition boys...

Also, Cardiff's best player is Irish. Excellent.

Meh I thought Dan Fish was the best Blues player there, though Copeland had a stormer too (bar the missed tackle)

Robin Copeland is class as well, reminds me of when Andy Powell was tearing people apart after his stint doing 7s.

The man is a beast , a good Gorey man he is too.

Also can someone find me a link to the game I'd like to see how he did.

Not sure about Copeland. Seems a bit lightweight and showy, but that is the style for Irish backrows.

Then again, I missed today's match, so perhaps he has improved.

No illegal links here please. So if you come across one, please refrain from posting the link here. This is a not a place for illegal activity, it's a place for discussion of rugby, whether it be European, South African, Tasman, etc.

No, you're original thoughts are pretty much spot on Draggs.

Made a couple of good runs, but as you say is too "showy" and ran out of the line looking for a big hit and then missed what should have been a routine tackle on O'Donnell. Tom James did nearly the exact same thing for the last try as well.

I disagree on the showy part , against Leinster He came on and hit a massive amount of rucks tackled well and carried straight and hard breaking numerous tackles , indeed I'd reckon he was the best player they had on the pitch.

Didn't see him tonight however so can't comment on that performance

I don't know how Ulster are doing it... thats like 3 over 40 score performances this year without playing extremely well.... was gutted when i seen Fezza hobble off hope its not too bad, but i was cheered up with seeing Wilson playing amazingly! I think I might be the only Ulster fan that will be happier to see less of Williams....

Gilroy looked brilliant, sad to know we won't see him as much this year with Bowe and Trimble. Also pleased with Cochrane playing well and Macklin looked busy for the little time he had, same with O'Connor (who made a transition from AIL to Ulster in one week look easy work) and Nelson.

Problems with retaining the ball a lot of stupid errors like the commentators said Ulster became their worst enemy's and the line out didn't seem to function towards the end. Also the fullback andrews didn't seem anyway near ready enough to play at that level still look like he was still playing for Ballymena, bit scared to see such a lack of depth at fullback when our internationals are out and hopefully nelson will see more game time.

With the way Ulster have played lately it must be frustrating to be the coach, you shouldn't be happy with such a inconsistent performance but you can't grill them too badly cause you are winning by 15 points although I'm sure thats not the worst problem a coach could have.

I'm gunna pretend I was only talking pro 12 lol

EDIT: where is Adam D'Arcy these days?

Vaguely recall hearing he picked up an injury.

Think given the rate Fez is getting injured I might go put a bet on Henderson going on the Lions tour. Tom Johnson is 80/1 on Paddypower, surely I can find a bookie to take Henderson at that at least or maybe higher - well worth a fiver. Isn't there a site that allows you to sell a bet early? Because the odds on Henderson going are going to shorten dramatically...

I have a tenner on Connacht at home to Treviso. Could someone please tell me just how shite that Treviso team is then?

As much as I admire the guy, I really don't think there's one chance of him going on the Lions tour lol.
Tbh I'm really not too bothered about Ferris being out for Ulster we can easily cover for him, but for Ireland we're going to be very weak in the backrow.

The Treviso side is very weak indeed. They have lost 18 players to the Italy side, and the FIR have historically not let many players at all play at club level the week before an international, not even the fringe players.

Treviso are so depleted they have actually had to add some Italian league players on loan to make up the numbers.

Connacht meanwhile are full strength, and at home, so I think you can be pretty sure of your £10. I haven't even heard of a few of the players in the Treviso team.

Treviso:15 Brendan Williams, 14 Andrew Vilk, 13 Christian Loamanu, 12 Andrea Pratichetti, 11 Angelo Esposito, 10 Alberto Di Bernardo, 9 Fabio Semenzato, 8 Marco Filippucci, 7 Valerio Bernabò, 6 Manoa Vosawai, 5 Corniel Van Zyl (c), 4 Marco Fuser, 3 Jacobus Roux, 2 Franco Sbaraglini, 1 Matteo Muccignat.
Replacements: 16 Enrico Ceccato, 17 Alberto De Marchi, 18 Ignacio Fernandez-Rouyet, 19 Giovanni Maistri, 20 Enrico Targa, 21 Giulio Toniolatti, 22 James Ambrosini, 23 Luca Morisi.

The guy's a physical freak. There's just simply not that many players around with his power and athleticism. He's learning quickly and has a great chance to shine. After Ferris, Ireland's blindside stocks look a little weak these days. And Gatland has shown total willingness to take punts on young and inexperienced players with the X factor before. Well, Henderson has that in spades.
