Leinster's backline has been decimated. Missing from those positions are Rob and Dave Kearney, Shane Horgan, Luke Fitzgerald, Andrew Conway, Brian O'Driscoll, Gordon D'arcy, Eoin O'Malley, Fergus McFadden, Eamonn Sheridan, Jonny Sexton, Mat Berquist and Eoin Reddan. Considering the decimation of backline options, it's good that there's such a strong pack available.

Colm O'Shea makes his debut while Andrew Boyle could make a first appearance off the bench. Others like Darren Hudson, Brendan Macken, Tom Sexton, Jack McGrath, Mark Flanagan, Jordi Murphy and Noel Reid are hardly experienced either.

I like these sort of games since it allows us to see unheralded players take a step up from British & Irish Cup level. O'Shea and Macken have formed a strong partnership in that competition so it'll be interesting to see how they get on in a more competitive game in front of a bigger crowd. It's a big game for Ian Madigan as for probably the first time he'll be directing less experienced players outside him.

You can learn a lot. In similar fixtures in years past against Scottish and Welsh teams, players like Dave Kearney, Eoin O'Malley, Dominic Ryan, Rhys Ruddock and Ian McKinley showed that they had big futures with Leinster. Others like Paul O'Donohoe failed to make the same impact. The same will happen over the next few weeks.

I wish to pedantically point out that Leinster's backline has been a great deal more than decimated, as that would imply that only one in ten players are missing, instead of virtually all of the first two choice backlines.

What's this O'Shea cat like?

He's another off the conveyor belt of not very large centres that we seem to specialise in bringing through at the moment. By all accounts he's been decent for the 'A' team this year, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

11-3 at the moment Nacewa playing well as usual Macken has made a good few half breaks but holding on to the ball too long. More than once it's looked like Hudson could have been away but the pass hasn't come.

21-8 Strauss with the try.

EDIT: Nacewa try 28-8. Games over McGrath is on.:D

How good was Madigan's pass there? Fantastic vision.

Bonus point try John Cooney 35-8 Nacewa having a great game.

Some of Leinsters attacking rugby in the last 15 minutes has been superb. The play direct attacking rugby from quick ball using angles and superb passing and support to just rip through Treviso's defence. I wish Ireland had this game plan!!!

One can only dream.

I don't think Schmidt is interested in international coaching to be honest!

Stay classy Leinster kids. Good performance.

Another try 42-8 great vision by Madigan and Reid in the build up. However Madigan takes to much up himself good place kick though.
