Has anyone figured out a way to convert the updated PC roster to PS2? If not, I will have a "try" at it.

I ripped it and took a look at the files: 453779c39fd0d3f0742eb80e0cb2a7c7.txt is a list of all the players and ratings, if that helps.

I tried to use PS2 save builder to import the update roster file from PC into the save through hex editing (copy and paste) but it didn't work. I will keep trying.

there is no way in hell to modify the ps2 version of rugby08 so if ur looking for updated kits, teams, players, stats etc play the pc version

Thats not entirely true. You may as well be saying that there's no way in hell to beat PS2 copy protection. It's not advised, but not impossible.

Im definantly no expert so im probbably wrong but isnt the reason why the Xbox worked with the updated roster is because it uses similar code? (PC and Xbox running under microsoft) I think ps2 has a diffrent code. So if you were to make a updated roster, you'd either have to make a new roster editor or edit the existing one to be compatible with the ps2. I might be wrong though.

That sounds completely right to me. I'm sure Woosaah's editors will not work for those reasons.

There would have to a new roster created to work with PS2. There are many PS2 rosters edited for other sports online, although I'm not sure theres anyone on TRF with the necessary knowledge for PS2.

Here's hoping though.

I did it with 2005, using the PC's original roster file (i.e. not the .ros file the other one, I can't remember the file extension), I edited it using someone's editor, loaded it back with PS2 save builder and it worked.

So there must be a way ... I'll have a go too and will get back to you guys

Yeah, shouldn't have to be modded, the file has to be in the exact right format for this to work tho.

Are you talking about a roster save file for the memory card then?

Pretty much, yeah. Basically you should be trying to take a roster save file from the memory card, alter the text only, via whatever editor allows you to do that (I dunno if a hex editor will work). Then copy it back as a roster file to the memory card.

All I know so far is that is how it's been done for other PS2 games. Not sure what software the roster editors for other PS2 games are using sorry.

Here's what's weird. Woosaah's Rugby 08 editor can read the PS2 roster file. If you extract the file from the save and add the .ros extension, the file is readable and editable. But if you re-add it to the ps2 save then it all goes wrong.

I'll work on it some more also, see what happens...

Maybe googling to find out how other ps2 custom rosters are created?

It's my guess it's a checksum causing the problem. Two different roster saves have different hex values at the beginning of the file. Chances are this is checked when loading and is what causes the PS2 to reject the file as corrupt.

Sounds like you need to go to the top of the class. That sounds like the exact kind of problem which would screw things up.

Any chance of correcting the values at the start or is that going to be nigh on impossible?

For those interested ...

I have the pc and ps2 version of Rugby 2006, I used Action Replay software and it's usb flash drive to copy roster files from my PS2 memory card to the flash drive.

I then used some of the rugby editors to edit my PC rosters and saved them.

I plugged in the flash drive in my pc, and using Ps2 save builder I opened the Action Replay file "53911_1638_RUGBY_06__.max" and extracted the ps2 roster "BESLES-53911Rabc".

I renamed my updated PC roster file from "Rost_0.ros" to "53911_1638_RUGBY_06__.max" and loaded it back into the "53911_1638_RUGBY_06__.max" file and saved it back to my usb flash drive.

I loaded it back to my ps2 and it worked, couldn't believe it ...

I don't have Rugby 2008 on PC, so if any one can show me where I can get a Rugby 2008 .ros and .rdf file, I can check to see if this works 2008.
