I keep forgetting how bad it is.That is pretty much the whole first squad

Chiefs are bang up for this one. Nothing papers over the cracks (canyon) like a win over Sarries at home. Sarries will be thin on the ground so hopefully an even match.

Please could we have Davison called up just for the complete set?!

Coles and Furbank would be with England if there were not out injured. That would be 9 England call ups... not bad for 8th placed team in the League!

From a Chiefs point of view this weekend is a huge help and give us a chance given our form but honestly why the hell is this not a post champions cup rest weekend/start the prem cup now.

So Eng's 36 top players will be missing and presumably likewise for the other 6N representatives -10 (!) Welsh, 5 Scots and 3 Italians. So that's 54 top players missing before you factor in the inevitable injuries at this stage of the season. Across just 5 matches.

Great to give centre stage to the kids and lesser lights, but it's no way to help market a competition where virtually all the clubs are struggling. Fans and viewers, especially the more casual ones who we want to attract want to see Itoje not Sodeke.

And then you have the nuts situation of a hiatus of virtually 2 months until round 12 starting on 21st March.

The whole Prem season's mad though.

First 6 rounds consecutively to 27/10 (good)

Then month AI break to R7 on 29/11 (bad)

Then 3 week break to R8 on 20/12 (bad)

Then consecutive games to R10 (good)

Then 3 weeks to R11 (bad)

Then 2 months 6N break to R12 (awful)

Then 1 week to R13 (good)

Then 3 weeks to R14 (bad)

Then 1 week to R15, 2 to R16 a pattern repeated for the last 2 regular season games (OK). And straight into playoffs/ final (good).

So that's an 18 game regular season stretching over 8 months. Despite a little bit of continuity at the pointy end, there's no real sense of story or momentum to attract fans or premium TV deals.

Yes I know the rugby calendar's phenomenally complicated, but really have to do better than this.

Don't be too disheartened. We have 6 of our own and some injuries too.

1. Baxter (England)
2.
3. Lamositele (injured TBC)
4. Lamb (injured TBC)
5.
6. Cunningham-South (England)
7.
8. Dombrandt (England/injured)
9.
10. Smith (England)
11. Murley (England)
12. Northmore (injured)
13. Beard (England)
14. Isgro (injured TBC)
15.

Not 100% sure on the injuries for Lamositele, Lamb and Isgro but I'm not expecting to see them.

For England we've got:

1. Rodd
2. LCD
3. AOF
4.
5.
6. T. Curry
7. B. Curry
8.
9. Quirke
10. Ford
11.
12.
13.
14. Roebuck
15.

Then a few iffy on the injury front (Luke James and Jonny Hill, not sure when they're due back), and a couple more long termers
It's a good job there's no meaningful games on during the 6N as losing WGJ on top of Schonert's injury means we'd be in real dire straights at tighthead
