+1

I wonder what the Sharks are gonna do with their backs; le Frenchie, JLP, Bosman and Lambie at 10, Lambie, Viljoen, Ludik, Ndungane and Terblanche able to play 15 but their only centre (Jacobs) doesn't even play. I wouldn't be surprised to see Lambie at either 12 even though he has always played 15 and we need him at 10. Hell, it's the Sharks so i wouldn't be surprised to see him at 8 and Bismarck at 12 to accomodate Burden at 2. Another fine mess thanks to John Plumtree (and we- WP/Stormers could so badly have used Viljoen at 15). C'mon Sharks, stop this bullshit and get a midfield combination and 1 world class player at 9 and 4 and stop messing about.

Both these were last year though.

Edit: was referring to CJ vand er Linde and Naas Olivier moving.

Poki has signed on with the us for another two years

An update on player movements

Blues

INS:
Ma'a Nonu (Ricoh Black Rams), Rudi Wulf (Toulon)
POSSIBLE: Piri Weepu (Hurricanes), Stephen Donald (Chiefs), Sonny Bill Williams (Crusaders)

OUTS: John Afoa (Ulster), Stephen Brett (Toyota Verblitz), Luke McAlister (Toulouse), Winston Stanley (Western Force), Joe Rokocoko (Bayonne), Jared Payne (Ulster)

TEAM 2012: 15 Isaia Toeava, 14 Rudi Wulf, 13 Benson Stanley, 12 Ma'a Nonu, 11 Rene Ranger, 10 Gareth Anscombe, 9 Alby Mathewson; 1 Tony Woodcock, 2 Keven Mealamu, 3 Charlie Faumuina, 4 Anthony Boric, 5 Ali Williams, 6 Jerome Kaino, 7 Luke Braid, 8 Peter Saili
16 Tom McCartney, 17 Tevita Mailau, 18 Filo Paulo, 19 Daniel Braid, 20 Chris Smylie, 21 Lachie Munro, 22 Sherwin Stowers

Now with Weepu confirming his move to the Blues, looks like Anscombe will have to ride shotgun next season.
9. Mathewson, 10. Weepu, ....

and according to stuff.co.nz Hobbs has signed with the blues as well... so very interesting to see how Anscombe and Hobbs are going to get game time when Nonu and Weepu are there. I heard somewhere that Weepu is going to be tried as first five and Hobbs won't push Nonu out of second five so, yeah... and apparently the Blues have edged ahead when it comes between them and the Chiefs so it could be SBW at 12 and Nonu at 13...

I have to admit I'm getting nervous WRT the Stormers team for next year. So far we've had confirmation of a mass movement of players out (Sadie, Engelbrecht, Louw, Januarie, Van der Linde, Reynecke, Van Zyl) but only very unsubstantiated rumors about players possibly coming in (Brussow, Hougaard).

Of those most (Reynecke, Sadie, Januarie, Engelbrecht and Van Zyl) shouldn't hurt us as we have depth in those positions (although inexperienced in some) apart from at halfback but I'm glad to see the back of Januarie (though I thank him; have to call time at some stage..).

Louw's departure is a bit disruptive though as the balance of our backrow is probably our biggest asset in combination with our depth of centers. I'm praying Brussow is coming to the Cape. We have decent cover in the backrow in Kolisi (been great in the Currie cup) and Koster but no fetcher and not having a fetcher with our defense seems crazy; I can just imagine the amount of ball Brussow could turn over in a team where everyone is comitted on D and the opposition team actually goes backwards on the attack as often as not.

Where we need back-up; 9, 15 and most importantly at the props.
Where we need aworld class player; 10, 15 and 3. Grant is decent enough but has shown time and again he can't take control of a game.

It looks though as if WP and the Stormers are going to be giving our youngsters the green light which is probably a good idea in the long run but its just been so loooooong since we've won anything (other than the S15 SA trophy LOL).

My wishlist:
3 Brian Mujati - please come back, we need a solid tighthead (and depth)
6 Heinrich Brussow - Brussow, Burger, Vermeulen... oh, my (with Kolisi on the bench as the perfect impact type player!)
9 Francois Hougaard - come back to the Cape, Hougie! (Duvenhage on the bench to cover 9 and at a pinch 10)
10 In terms of at 10, I'd be happy to give Dimitri Catrakilis and Gary van Aswegen an extended run over importing someone more settled/known. Please just give grant a rest (and stop with skipping Catrakilis like we did in the S15)
15 Joe Pietersen - should be bought back as Aplon isn't a FB and Jantjes offers too little at this stage. Lionel Cronje on the bench. That or get any of Taute/Ludik/Viljoen as the Sharks already have an overabundance of fullbacks LOL.

Some youngsters non-Saffas should look out for in 2012 (from the Stormers);
2nd row; Rynhardt Elstadt and Eben Etzebeth
backrow; Siya Kolisi
flyhalf; Dimitri Katrakilis
wing; Danie Poolman

Elstadt was ace this year, hardly ever took a step back, and when he did it was most likely to make an even better tackle.

Seemed a decent flanker in the CC, but his permanent move to lock was an inspired move.

Edit: The Bulls have confirmed the signing of Southern Kings flanker/ lock Jacques Potgieter.

Imagine if Jacques-Louis Potgeiter moved back to the Bulls, and they all started?

Joe Pietersen was rumoured to be returning to SA (with the Lions) a couple of months ago but has started the season in France now with Bayonne so that is off the cards, likewise Mujati

I don't think Francois Hougaard is likely to move

so the only player who I think the Stormers have a chance pf getting is Brüssow

I've read that Elstadt was impressive in the Super rugby this year, and I have been impressed with Anton van Zyl in the past so he must have been quite good to keep him out of the team

I hope Siya Kolisi gets a chance next season in 2012, South Africa hasn't really produced to many black forwards over the past five years (Mtawarira and Mujati are Zimbabwean) and it would be good for SA to have him challenging to get in the Springboks side, hopefully he's better than the last black South African flankers who played for the Springboks (Tim Dlulane, Solly Tyibilika)

Yeah, Kolisi is good. Showing a LOT of promise but we WP supporters do sometimes put our young guys on pedestals too quickly. But hopefully he'll be patient, stay with WP and get his opportunities.

Carr and Fenton-Wells also quality young WP loosies. The problem is these guys along with Burger and Vermeulen aren't out-and-out fetchers and not having a fetcher considering our defense would be a big opportunity lost.

Our major problem is in the front row and at fullback IMO. A world class 10 and some depth at 9 and we'd be pushing VERY hard for a ***le.

Elstadt is great. I fhe can keep it up... well, he can go far. Look for young SA and WP lock Eben Etzebeth to push both Elstadt and Bekker as well.

You mean like

6 J Potgieter
7 D Potgieter
10 JL Potgieter

LOL

My favourite is still

2 G Botha
3 BJ Botha
4 B Botha

I think you can easily form a team with only 5 different names...

du Plessis, Botha, Steyn, Cronje and Potgieter haha

With the only football manager game Hattrick, I once actually succeeded in having a whole squad with players named de Jong ;)

You could scrape the barrel a bit and stick Steffan Jones of the Dragons at 12 and Lee Williams of the Scarlets at 15 :p

I was aware of Ross Jones, but his is still a nipper (Wales U20 FB this year).
Stretched it a bit wit Mark and Dafydd, but I stopped myself from using Rhys Williams at 15.
Dafydd James and Tom James could be added at 13 and 14.
