Possible London Irish take over by Powerday owner

Apologies for the double post. Saw a piece in the paper this morning reporting that the new ownership won't 'break the bank' to keep Yarde at the club (he is out of contract this year) and have ruled out a 'Toulon style recruitment drive'.

Interesting.

Well they can't do a Toulon style drive. The salary cap gets in the way. We all knew that. I'd still expect a fair bit of movement from them as the squad they have is insufficient to the task.

Btw - can't see them going for Pro 12 unless things go truly crazy, but I can see them antagonising for the right to release players to other unions. Nevermind recruitment of Irish players, their academy would benefit greatly from not losing solid prospects to the Irish academy system at a steady trickle. Not sure whether the rest of PRL would go for it, but I can't be the only one to see a huge advantage in persuading Samoa to make friends, while Newcastle could pick up links with Scotland, and there's all sorts of other promising Tier 2 countries... marquee South Africans...

It's a good point Peat - they would probably be more successful having a higher quality of players for most of the year - even if they lose them for a game or two.
Especially with Mapasua now fronting this PI Players Association.
